Thingvellir National Park is the gateway to the Golden Circle, and is home to countless scenic sites such as the rift between the North American and European Tectonic Plates. It is also home to Iceland’s ancient parliament. One of the oldest in the world and established in 930 AD.

Afterwards, we’ll continue east and stop at a Greenhouse Farm that grows Tomatoes using geothermal methods of extracting heat below the earth's surface. Followed by a delicious Tomato soup lunch with geothermal baked bread.

After the Tomato farm, we’ll head inland towards the highly active Geysir Hot Spring Area with its boiling mud pits and spouting hot springs Continuing on to Gullfoss, one of Iceland‘s most powerful waterfalls. Located on Hvítá river, the waterfall is fed by Langjökull glacier and plummets down 100 feet in two stages into a rugged canyon.

Later, we’ll continue our journey east and finish our afternoon in the Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon. Our hotel will be located in the bewildering remote region of the glaciers. The waterfall Svartifoss (Black Fall) flows over a step of about 65 feet. Its name comes from the black basalt columns behind it. In the Middle Ages there were a number of large farms in this area, but they were abandoned after two volcanic eruptions and the ensuing glacier runs.
