Are you interested in exploring new, ever-changing landscapes, ancient and modern Nordic culture, distinctive foods and authentic wool crafts? If the answer is "yes", join us for Fall 2025’s Iceland South Coast Sampler! This trip is well suited to those who have traveled to Iceland previously as well as to first-time visitors. Our Icelandic Fiber Ambassador, Anna Toher, has created an itinerary chock-full of the region’s unique, natural beauty. During this 9-day/8-night adventure, you’ll experience the south coast’s volcanic landscapes, geothermal waters (our favorite thing!), a glacial lagoon filled with thousand-year-old icebergs and inland sea cliffs. Fancy a boat ride out to visit the Vestmannaeyjar (Vestmann Islands)? How about digging your toes into some deep, black sand on the windswept beach at Vik? What about participating in the annual fall rettir (roundup), complete with beautiful Icelandic horses, a veritable fashion show of lopapeysa (Icelandic sweaters) and the biggest gathering of Icelandic sheep you can imagine? Our group will have a bespoke workshop with Icelandic textile artist, knitter and designer Ásdís Birgisdóttir. We’ll also enjoy a very special day getting to know the unique Feldfé sheep breed. We’ll gaze at the night sky from comfy accommodations, checking to see if the Northern Lights have come out for a dance. You won’t want to miss this one.

WELCOME TO ICELAND!
Today, Iceland welcomes you to The Land of Fire and Ice. We’ll start your tour by whisking you out of the airport and off to a surprisingly relaxing, restorative soak at nearby Sky Lagoon. Take your time, rehydrate, get those kinks out with some hot water and enjoy a rejuvenating lunch. Then we’ll continue on our way to "east of the mountain", as Icelanders say when traveling from Reykjavík to the country’s south coast. Our route will take us past a landscape of rough lava, geothermal fissures and wide, grassland plains. A short stop in the town of Selfoss means we can pop into an Icelandic grocery store to find some unusual snacks or peruse the offerings in Selfoss’s New Town, with its numerous restaurants, shops and fantastic brewery. After a nice wander, we’ll hop back on the bus and continue to our hotel near the village of Hella for a soft, sweet landing. Enjoy going right to bed or join others for an evening knitting session in Landhotel’s sitting room. Nightcap? Hot, soothing tea? You decide!
