Your tour hotel is south of the city center and across the street from your rental bike. If you want to come in early to enjoy Vienna we suggest staying in the old center. We will be there so please join us and see how we "do" Vienna. We have several hotels to recommend for early arrival or staying after. We will get together for a riders briefing and probably all head to a local pub for dinner. Get to sleep early, we've got a great but rather long day ahead.
Leave you big cases at the hotel or in the rental garage. It's time to pack light and mount up. No waiting for everyone. As soon as the riders in your Squadron are ready to go, you head out. Today it's about quickly heading south and settling into your home base hotel. Get their early maybe you'll want to take one of our quick afternoon routes.
You and your squadron have lots to choose from. Maybe it's time to get this adventure started. You've come to train up on the challenging roads of the Julian Alps. Well there's a route that will give you a real work out. The roads are narrow but the pavement is good. Do it smooth and careful with your Squadron. There's not much traffic out here but that also means you are a long way from help. So keep the shiny side up. Enjoy some REAL Italian food at a local Trattoria before you head North again back into Slovenia. It's a full day, tell us all about it when you make it back. If several squadrons decide to do this route then chances are you'll get some time with a YCRS coach to get some real time feedback on your riding.
Yes you read that right. You and your Squadron are in for something special here. There's a special train that will take you under the mountain to the old resort of Badgastein. Grab a snack in the old town and then head north to the valley road to return south over the famed road of Großglockner. You should probably get a sticker near the top to make your friends back home envious. There's a long route through some lonely mountain twisties to get you back or you can cut it short to head straight back to the hotel. Either way you're going to be riding in Alps paradise for at least 6 hours. This is what you came to do. Practice using that rear brake on the second half of those hairpin turns.
Head north with your squadron through the mountains over Tauernpass. Search for lunch in Schladming before you use your freshly honed skills on Solkpass. You've got time today, be sure to grab some photos or swap out the batteries on your video cameras to grab afternoon footage. Leod instructors have run these roads before but we'll be most interested where you ended up for lunch. Be sure to spend some time with a coach today if you can. We'll want to see how far you've come with your riding.
We've got time to take the long way back to Vienna today. So take in the countryside and the mountains. The life of everyday modern Austrians. No tourist buses go here. Be sure to have a Döner Kebab today and a Lieberkäse sandwich the preferred fast food of Austrians and Bavarians. You've got a photo op today if you are a MotoGP fan. You'll be going past the entrance of the fastest circuit on the MotoGP calendar, Redbullring! It's on your waypoints list. Just follwow the GPS to the spot and post a picture to drive your friends insane with envy. Your big suit cases are ready and waiting for you back at the bike rental location. Pack up your gear and check into our hotel across the street. We've reserved a big table at one of our favorite spots downtown, come join everyone for a celebratory dinner.
Hopefully you can arrange an afternoon flight as you'll probably want to sleep in. More important than all the fun you had is you've learned the lesson that riding in Europe isn't that hard and you can do it yourself... it's just more fun with friends.
