'Was great to be a part of this. So much learning and reflection to continue'. (Educational Psychologist from North-West, UK)
'Was overwhelmed with teachings, tutor knowledge and friendliness from all involved'. (Therapist from Midlands, UK).
'Phenomenal experience, highly skilled facilitators - a fun, deep, and restorative experience that will stay with me forever. The programme was well structured with plenty of time for socialisation balanced with rest and relaxation. What is an EEC(SM)
Emotional Emancipation Circles (EECs) are facilitated groups designed to help heal and recover from racial trauma.
Originated by the Community Healing Network (CHN) and developed with the Association of Black Psychologists (ABPsi), EECs are liberatory spaces where Black people share stories to deepen their understanding of self-worth, relationships, and communities.
Together, we learn essential emotional wellness skills to help us be our best as individuals and as a community. In EEC(SM)s we
Learn together
Read quotes together
Watch film clips together
Dance together
Share stories and
Practice emotional regulation skills.
Together we go from the blues to the sky blue of possibilities
Rooted in the best of traditional African culture we develop cultural pride and enhance our spiritual resilience.
Who is this retreat aimed at?
Adults of African ancestry (18 years and over) (Black people) including those of multiple heritage
Executives, professionals, leaders, educators, and trainees/ students seeking nurturing and replenishment in a luxury environment
Those experiencing Black fatigue (Winters 2020). Physical, mental, and spiritual exhaustion experienced by Black people due to systemic racism, repeated aggressions, and the constant need to navigate racial injustice. It encompasses stress from encountering racial violence and/ or our awareness and the burden of having to constantly prove one's worth.
Those open to incorporating the energy of our elders, ancestors, the spirit, a higher power, a creator, the universe etc; as part of their healing journey.
