We highly recommend this 3-night extension ($1,500 per person, double occupancy), which includes round-trip airfare from Napier or Auckland and a stay at a centrally located Queenstown hotel, just an easy walk to the lake, restaurants, and shops. The highlight is an unforgettable fly-cruise-fly excursion to Milford Sound, widely considered one of the most extraordinary experiences in New Zealand, featuring soaring peaks, waterfalls, and dramatic fjord scenery.
This extension can be added before or after your Pars & Pours stay, with flight routing arranged to fit seamlessly with your overall travel plans.
A rental car is included for the full duration of your stay, giving you the freedom to explore Hawke’s Bay on your own schedule — from golf and wineries to coastal drives and nearby towns.
Standard vehicles are comfortable and well-suited for two golfers, with ample space for luggage and golf clubs, making day-to-day driving easy and stress-free on New Zealand’s scenic roads. Automatic, four door with A/C.
For those who prefer additional space, or for two couples wishing to travel together, optional upgrades to larger vehicles or small SUVs are available.
This flexible arrangement allows complete independence throughout your stay — drive as much or as little as you like, with no obligations or group schedules.
During Pars & Pours, Hastings Golf Club is your home club. You are not a guest — you are a full member, with all the privileges and access that come with belonging to one of New Zealand’s most respected golf communities.
Founded in 1898, Hastings GC is a classic 18-hole parkland course set across gently rolling countryside, offering a layout that is challenging yet very playable, and a genuine pleasure to walk. The course is immaculately maintained, with firm, true fairways, fast greens, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in from day one.
Dana and I are current members here, and we couldn’t be more impressed by the club, the staff, and the membership. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and immediately made to feel part of the community.
Brett, the Head Professional, and his team not only welcomed us — they actively helped introduce us to members and playing groups
Michelle, the General Manager, takes great pride in the club and is genuinely supportive and engaged
Member benefits include:
Full golf privileges for the duration of your stay
Unlimited play with easy access to tee times, seven days a week
Outstanding practice facilities:
Driving range
Chipping and bunker areas
A unique four-hole practice course
A relaxed clubhouse café with excellent food, great value, and a deck overlooking the course — a favorite post-round gathering spot
The course is conveniently located 10–15 minutes from Hastings, making it easy to blend daily golf with the rest of Hawke’s Bay life.
This is the kind of club where friendships form quickly, routines feel natural, and golf becomes part of everyday living.
Located just 20 minutes from Hastings, Cape Kidnappers is one of the most photographed and talked-about courses in the world. Designed by Tom Doak, this dramatic clifftop layout stretches high above the Pacific Ocean and delivers an unforgettable visual and golfing experience.
Often described as a true bucket-list course, Cape Kidnappers is offered as an optional special golf day for those who wish to experience one of New Zealand’s iconic courses during their stay.
Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club is a true links course, regularly ranked among the Top 100 courses in the world, and widely regarded as one of the purest links experiences outside the UK and Ireland.
Located on the Kapiti Coast near Wellington, this classic seaside course features firm, fast fairways, natural dunes, ever-changing wind conditions, and a layout that rewards creativity and shot-making. It’s the kind of course golfers talk about long after the round is over.
We plan this as an optional overnight golf trip, offering guests the chance to experience a world-class links course while enjoying a short change of scenery during their month in New Zealand.
We have been able to include this in the package at no additional charge.
There’s no fixed schedule here — just long summer days, easy access to golf, good food and wine, and the chance to live somewhere long enough to feel at home. If that sounds like your idea of winter, we’d love to have you join us next January and enjoy summer in New Zealand.
Looking to mix things up or enjoy a lighter, social way to stay active? Pickleball and croquet are both part of the Pars & Pours lifestyle and offer easy, fun ways to spend time outdoors and connect with others.
Pickleball is a favorite for its quick rallies and relaxed competitiveness — great whether you’re playing regularly or just giving it a try. Croquet offers something entirely different: casual, social, and wonderfully unhurried, best enjoyed with a group, a few laughs, and plenty of sunshine.
Both are simple to drop into, low-pressure, and a great complement to everything else Hawke’s Bay has to offer. Whether you’re looking for movement, conversation, or just an excuse to be outside, these activities add to the easy rhythm of summer living here.
We recommend flying into Auckland and arriving a couple of days before the program begins. Auckland is a beautiful waterfront city with excellent restaurants, wineries, and sightseeing, and it’s a wonderful way to ease into New Zealand time and lifestyle.
From Auckland, you have two easy options to reach Hawke’s Bay:
Flight: A short, scenic one-hour flight to Napier (NPE), typically about $175 USD each way, followed by a 20-minute drive to Hastings.
Drive: Pick up your rental car in Auckland and enjoy the approximately five-hour drive to Hastings, a spectacular journey through rolling countryside and mountain ranges. Many guests choose this option to experience more of New Zealand’s landscape at their own pace.
We are happy to assist with flights and Auckland hotel arrangements.
