About this trip

22 day and 22 night 200 Hour Vinyasa Krama & Yin Yoga Teacher Training

Join us for an amazing 200 hour Transformative Vinyasa and Yin yoga teacher training at Yoga Dunia, Nusa Lembongan, Indonesia. Minutes from the beach in a peaceful location, this is the perfect location to dive deeper into your Yoga and become qualified to teach.

We are offering a combined equally balanced course where you will learn all the Vinyasa and Yin essentials to both personalize your own practice and give you the skills and qualification to teach both Yin and Yang quality yoga classes.

The training includes Vinyasa Krama and Yin asana, philosophy, practical interactive learning labs, and student practical teaching labs. Your own practice will deepen as you apply the theory of both yin and yang yoga to yourself and have the opportunity of practicing teaching both of these styles to others. By the end of this intensive course, you will be able to confidently teach both a Vinyasa and Yin class.

Vinyasa Krama was created by Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, considered the father of modern yoga or the most influential yoga teachers of the 20th century. The Sanskrit word Vinyasa is the principle of synchronizing movement with the breath, where each movement is led by the inhalation or the exhalation. Krama literally means steps or stages. Vinyasa Krama means a step by step progression into something, or to a certain goal. This is a practice that takes us from simple to more complex asanas and also from gross or external physical movement to subtle & internal connection with ourselves. It allows the practitioner to pay close attention to how the body is feeling at every moment and respecting it accordingly, inviting variations/ modifications to suit everyone’s individual needs and specific goals.

Effectively it is a slow progressive flow towards a harmonious unification of the breath, the body and the mind with endless benefits.

Meet Your Teachers

Claire Green – Yin Teacher Trainer
Senior Yoga teacher, yoga therapist and passionate yin yogi, from her first encounter with yin yoga she was hooked, and fell in love with the pure raw healing potential of the practice and the contrast between the strength and power of a yang practice compared to the grace and surrender of a yin practice. Passionate about how yoga empowers people in the healing process; rather, than being a passive recipient of treatment, the student is actively engaged in the path to their own well-being. Claire sees her role as guide you to listen to your own subtle messages your body gives and directing you as to how to respond offering tools for re-balance and teaching you the way to implement these tools within your own teaching. Claire has over 1,200 hours of teacher training and 15 years of teaching experience; completing 500 hours with the British Wheel of Yoga in 2005; Birthlight pregnancy yoga training in 2009. She gained the British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course Teacher Trainer certification in 2011 delivering British Wheel of Yoga training. In 2014 she completed Forrest Yoga Advanced Yoga Training before furthering her training by completing 500-hour with Maggie Reach studying yin yoga therapy, yoga philosophy, chanting, and Ayurveda, co-run with Neil Pearson, a specialist in physical therapy and chronic pain in 2015. In 2019 she completed further Yin Yoga training with Jo Phee and Joe Barnett.

Asana and teaching lab

Vinyasa (Yang): You will gain a theoretical understanding and clear framework for sequencing a vinyasa class that cultivates creativity, independence, authenticity and allows you to grow as teachers and students in the practice of yoga. We will then explore how the different asanas and other practices can be sequenced and explore in-depth the characteristics of each asana family and the other yogic tools including meditation, pranayama, mudra, chanting etc. This will Include their effects on the physical and energetic body, the mind, benefits, yogic physiology (chakras, Vayu’s, koshas etc), western physiology (nervous systems etc), contraindications, alignment principles, etc). We will be exploring vital teaching skills and how to both deliver information effectively and encourage learning in a creative and safe manner.

Yin: You will learn how to take a shape that suits your skeletal frame and softening into the shape to engage your meridian system and release stagnant energy. The teacher will guide you how to go through a journey of understanding your energetic system. By learning these teaching skills and how to instinctively tune into your own and student’s needs will lead you to practice and then teach the art of self adjustment accordingly, so that students can understand how to tune into their own energetic body to create balance within the practice. We will be breaking down each popular Yin asana, discussing variations and use of props, the rebound and rest period and how to use a mindful meditation with your practice. We will be exploring Yin teaching skills, voice and tone and how to use observational skills to skillfully interact with students.

Prerequisites

  • To teach yoga authentically, you must first have an established personal practice. During this intensive course, you will practice two hours twice a day different styles of yoga, including Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin yoga and Restorative.
  • If you feel ready to take this next step and wish to become a certified yoga teacher we do recommend you to have at least one year of regular and dedicated yoga asana practice.
  • However, if you are at the stage where you wish to develop your own practice, learn more about yoga and all its aspects, but are not ready or do not wish to become a certified yoga teacher yet then this course is also for you. We understand it can be difficult to find the time to learn and practice all the elements of yoga, so this is an opportunity to do so without becoming a yoga teacher.
  • If this is you, we do recommend you to have practiced any style of yoga for at least six months, as this will make it easier for you to develop a regular asana, pranayama, and meditation practice. You will be able to follow exactly the same schedule as those who are choosing to become certified, without the necessity to complete the final test paper and the student teaching labs.

Final assessment

During the last day of the Yin element and the last day of the whole training you will have different assessments to complete; this will be both written and practical Yin and Yang teaching assignments.

I really enjoyed the personal development I got out of this experience. All three staff members, Audrey, Zara Ra and Delphine were so helpful through the whole process. I hope to come back to this little island one day. The morning meals were fantastic, it was a bit tough to focus with the humidity ( floor fans would be a good idea). I loved that there was a pool on the grounds to cool off at and it was a very inviting environment. Thank you all for a wonderful and much needed experience.

Thank you for your request. I would be happy to give my experience and perspective of my stay. Frame: Excellent setting on a tropical island, very good and healthy breakfast, homemade tea and fruit juice throughout the day. Very nice institute and a very competent and warm trainer! — As a customer who was looking forward to her first yoga asana training: Unfortunately, this week was anything but pleasant for me. I have taken many courses and seminars over the years (I'm in my mid-50s) and have always gone home stronger and made new friends. As part of a “yoga teacher training” of all places, I felt excluded, neither seen nor heard. One of the participants (certified yoga teachers) yelled at me when I wanted to give my perspective on a situation/misinterpretation. I left the center and felt the impulse to stop training, which in retrospect might have been beneficial. The situation reminded me of children's birthday parties, where the adults do not (or cannot) sufficiently fulfill their role as peacemakers and the excluded child is picked up. — Feedback from the perspective of a SeminarCenter founder and leader, long-time trainer of multicultural groups and lifestyle coach: The dissatisfaction resulted, among other things, from the course offering (also open to non-yoga certified participants like me), which was not sufficiently defined and whose potential was not exhausted. Our trainer set initiatives in the form of food for thought to improve the mood. The secretariat tried to please everyone. The problem could have been solved immediately by addressing it directly so that it didn't overshadow the remaining training days like a cloud. — as a yoga practitioner: I would like to thank everyone involved for the experiences I was able to have. I am sorry that we have not been able to create a peaceful space within this framework. I look forward to meeting everyone again and doing better next time. Namaste. I am happy to answer any questions or suggestions regarding my implementation Best regards Adelaide

The Yoga Teacher Training through Akira Yoga, at Yoga Dunia, with Claire was truly amazing! I felt so welcomed as soon as I walked in, supported to learn, and encouraged to ask questions! We managed to have so much fun and explore the island (thanks to Claire’s contacts and expertise), all while learning Yin Yoga and the incredibly wise medicine of Chinese Tradition ❤️ Claire’s knowledge of the human body is so impressive, at a level equivalent to my medical training! Felt comfortable teaching my first yin class by the end of the training, and would absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves yoga, yummy food, meeting interesting people and wanting to focus on self-love and improvement!
