Kylie’s journey into yoga began after a major spinal fusion surgery with Harrington Rods at 14 years old left her in pain and feeling rigid. Through the discipline of yoga, Kylie found freedom from her physical pain and fell in love with its ability to calm the mind. She has spent the past nineteen years learning about the body through experience and deep research. Her classes are empowering, heartfelt, and accommodating for all levels (those who have never taken a yoga class will feel safe and seen, while experienced practitioners will be offered new challenges and perspectives to enhance their practice).

Dr. Avery has dedicated more than a decade to the field of mental health, working with a diverse range of clients through an integrative, relational, and compassionate approach. Her doctoral training focused on supporting youth, families, and neurodiverse individuals, fostering a deep understanding of the unique strengths and challenges that shape each person's experience. Throughout her career, Dr. Avery has witnessed the transformative impact of self-compassion and acceptance—both in her own life and in the lives of her clients. These principles remain at the heart of her work. Based in Santa Barbara, California, she draws inspiration from the area's natural beauty, incorporating the healing qualities of nature into her personal and professional life. Dr. Avery helps clients cultivate resilience, self-awareness, and emotional well being through acceptance-based, somatic, and mindfulness-informed practices. She is trained in several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and has more recently integrated elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS) into her clinical work. At this retreat, Dr. Avery brings together her clinical expertise, passion for nature, and appreciation for mindful movement to create a supportive and restorative experience. Through guided practices and experiential learning, participants will deepen self-compassion, strengthen mindful awareness, reduce stress, and cultivate a greater sense of balance and connection in their lives.

"Kylie organized the first yoga retreat I attended. I loved the experience so much that I have been to 3 other yoga retreats since January 2022. And Kylie's retreat is still my favorite date. There was a strong focus on movement, play, and spirituality throughout our whole time in Costa Rica. I strongly recommend attending a retreat with Kylie and Akash Retreats." - Jessica A
"Kylie's Costa Rica retreat is still my favorite to date. She has the skill to create a yoga experience that is both challenging and fun. One of my most memorable times and the standard for all other retreats to be meet." - Emelynn
"I signed up for a yoga retreat Kylie was hosting. I hadn’t practiced yoga prior to going. It was the most amazing experience. I connected with myself on an emotional, physical and mental level. It allowed me to find my passion, yoga! Kylie is a fantastic instructor and was able to guide/assist whenever needed. I would love to another yoga retreat with Kylie" - Kendall
"Crossing paths & meeting Kylie has re-focused my entire year - toward health, mindset, and a sense of community. Kylie's awareness in identifying how to help other people feel good in their skin and test their limits, is built on trust and openness. After each retreat with Kylie, I feel motivated to grow my yoga practice within both mindset, emotional stability, and physical healing. Thank you Kylie!" - Amy
"Looking forward to my next opportunity to join Kylie for another fantastic retreat like the one I enjoyed in January 2022. Yoga, community and adventure were the three pillars of the experience and Kylie was at the center of it all, teaching, sharing and leading. From the playlists to the aerial instruction, Kylie is as detailed as she is creative and energetic and delivered a great experience for everyone in our group. Hoping to make it to the next one!" - Eric
"My time practicing yoga with Kylie was nothing short of extraordinary. She’s attentive and skilled as a teacher and exceptional at flowing with her classes to meet their needs but also while pushing them to their edge. I had a particularly acute spiritual experience during one of her classes on retreat that left me wanting to do many more retreats with her in the future." - Indigo
