About this trip

Sedona is a magical setting to enhance emotional wellbeing and spiritual growth.  At the Sedona retreat, not only will we nourish our bodies and minds, but we'll help those who work hard to maintain Sedona's natural splendor by doing a couple hours of Saturday morning litter lifting with a local organization called Keep Sedona Beautiful.

Highlights Include:

  • Peaceful accommodations nestled into the banks of Oak Creek
  • Healthy and hearty buffet breakfasts made from local family recipes
  • Privately-cooked gourmet lunches and dinners
  • Locally-guided sunset yoga on a Sedona vortex
  • Saturday morning litter lifting on beautiful Sedona road stretches
  • Guided meditations and sound healing
  • Sunday & Monday morning yoga
  • Afternoon free time to enjoy creek-swimming, meditation, journaling, reading and relaxing

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How do I get to Sedona?

  • By air, you’ll fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.  From there, the drive is a little over 2 hours.  There's a shuttle service available for about $100pp roundtrip door-to-door.  I recommend Ace Xpress Shuttle and would be happy to book it for you with your card information, message the organizer to discuss further.
  • You may also self-drive.  It’s about a 8-9 hours from LA, 7-8 hours from San Diego, 4-5 hours from Las Vegas, and a little over 2 hours from the Phoenix area.

Where are we staying?

  • The Briar Patch Inn is a peaceful oasis on Oak Creek just a few miles outside the main town of Sedona.  Our cottages at this environmentally-friendly property are charming, cozy, and rustically elegant with comfortable beds, fireplaces, and great views.  While WiFi and cell service is accessible on property, we’ll be immersed in the natural beauty of their tranquil grounds surrounded by oak trees, sunlight and summer breezes!

What is a vortex and how will we experience it?

  • Sedona is known to many as a sacred and powerful destination - visitors come from all over the world to experience the healing forces of the swirling energy centers known as vortexes (technically, “vortices”).  All of Sedona is known to be a vortex, but there are many specific spots within that are said to radiate their own energy.  These visits can leave people feeling inspired, recharged, and uplifted.
  • On Saturday afternoon, we'll explore this magical energy as a group on a vortex hike.  Your participation is welcome, but you're also free to stay on property and relax!
  • On Sunday afternoon, a local guide will take us to one of the vortexes where we’ll practice yoga among the stunning red rock formations at sunset.  This experience will not only deepen our yoga practice, but expand our mind, bodies, and spirits.

What will the food be like?

  • We’ll have a hot, hearty and healthy buffet breakfast that can be enjoyed inside the cozy lodge, or outside under the trees sitting alongside the creek.  Afternoon refreshments are also provided on property.
  • Lunches and dinners will be privately prepared for our group by the same chefs from a previous Sol Searchers Palm Springs retreat – Dana and Kenyata Laramore of No Worries Chefs.  Their delicious meals are thoughtfully made with the highest quality ingredients.
  • Our cottages have full kitchens so feel free to bring whatever snacks and drinks you like, including any alcohol you may want.  Special dietary restrictions and requirements can of course be accommodated – be sure to share your dietary information.

Can you tell me more about the guided meditations and sound healing being offered?

  • Colleen McMilian, who joined us at the Sol Searchers Palm Springs retreat, is a gifted musician and reiki master who focuses on the healing properties of sound, both in her music and her energy work, and she has been formally trained in both areas.  She’ll be leading us in guided meditations and sound healing.  Your participation in these activities is encouraged but not mandatory.

What is Keep Sedona Beautiful and how will we help them?

  • KSB is an organization dedicated to the preservation and conservation of Sedona’s scenic environment.  We’ll spend a couple hours on Saturday morning “litter lifting” – removing litter from beautiful stretches of roadsides.  As a destination famous for its natural beauty, we’ll gain some hands-on experience giving back to this community that supports tourism.

What will the weather be like?

  • Sedona weather mid-May historically has daily highs in the low 80’s, with lows in the low 50’s.  Briar Patch Inn tends to be a few degrees lower than the main area of Sedona because of its location nestled into Oak Canyon.  It will be sunny and warm with temperatures peaking around lunchtime.
