Mole National park is home to both plants and over 93 mammal species, with an estimated elephant population of 436 Based on a 2019 (January – April) Research carried out by Forestry Commission / Wildlife Division. There are also about warthogs, water bucks, kobs, bush bucks, hartebeests, antelopes, baboons, monkeys, birds and many other animals’ species and plants. 


Established in 1958, Mole Game reserve is a protected area covering about 4,912km² and one of the biggest and most patronized reserves in Ghana. Our guests would be exposed to this and many more on a trip with Best Ghana Tours.

Introduction to Tamale Cultural City and Mole National Park

Explore the daily busy market of the city of Tamale, where communities all over the region and some neighboring countries come to trade with lots of everything to see to make your day interesting.

  

At the cultural center, you get to learn about the culture of people of Northern Ghana as you explore the various stalls that showcase the cultural and historical crafts and identity of the people of Ghana and Africa.


Few meters away from the Dakpema Palace, you get to experience firsthand. How leather shoes, belts, sandals, bags etc. are made and the processes leading to the final product. Our guest would be taken through the beginning of the process from the fresh skin through to the final product and you can get to try your hands on making your own sandals. 

  

Visit Tanpei kukuo to see and try your hands on how the famous all natural sheabutter is transformed from sheanuts to sheabutter.

Fringe Community Cultural Experience

A must see community on the way to and from Mole National Park, is the Larabanga community which hosts the famous Mosque (Masjid) & a trans-Sahara trade route Mystic Stone. Seen as the oldest Mosque in Ghana and one of the oldest in West Africa, Larabanga Mosque has a history of being built around 1421, using the Sudanese Architectural style and home to about 4000 in population. Our guests get to learn all about this community and its attractions. 


Another fringe-community to the Mole Park, we take our guests to experience is Mognori local canoe safari on the Mole River under the awning of the thick forest. 

You explore the serene environment on a canoe safari watching wildlife animals drink from the river and several bird species sing and fly over as the canoe moves. After the river experience, there is a local community tour of the local medicine man, the local herdsmen settlement etc.

Mole Walking Safari Experience

Take a two hour walk in the park treating yourself to nature, wildlife and adventure in Ghana’s largest protected wildlife park. Our guests would be exposed to both plants and over 93 mammal species, with an estimated elephant population of 436 Based on a 2019 (January – April) Research carried out by Forestry Commission / Wildlife Division.
