About this trip

Located amidst magnificent forests in the extreme end of Southwest Uganda, across the steep escarpments of the western or the Albertine rift valley, Bwindi is the only park in the world, which harbors more than half of the world’s endangered gorillas, in there natural habitat. There are now only 1,200 individuals left in the world! They can not survive outside their natural habitat. Be part of the those that endeavor to make sure stop their extinction, by tracking and encountering them.

It is a life changing experience, the encounter the largest and gentle ape on earth, (king Kongo) in  one of the habituated gorillas families. These gentle giant apes, from which it’s believed  mankind evolved;  their habitat is threatened by human encroachment and destruction, the tracking of these gentle giants is highly controlled, this activity is a highlight activity in Uganda today!

The forest is also a habitat for over 90 species of mammals, other primates and 346 species of bird life of which 90% of Albertine rift valley endemics.
You won’t only encounter wildlife, but the  local communities living around the forest, it’s worth to explore, there are, cultural village walks, to meet and interact with the local communities alwhich is optional. If you prefer, you can relax amidst the African jungle.

The visitors have a choice of accommodation to stay: Gorilla Forest Camp, Bwindi Resort and volcanoes (High end/luxurious accommodation), Buhoma Homestead, and Mantana tented camp, Lake Kitandara Tented (Medium class accommodation and Buhoma local community Association (Low budget/basic accommodation to) offer travelers’ comfortable style of African accommodation

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival

The safari begins at Kampala and Entebbe Our guide/driver picks you at 8:00 am from your hotel or residence. Drive to Mbarara via Masaka (283 km from Kampala). Make a first stop over at Equator crossing for snacks and photography.
Lunch break will be at Igongo cultural centrein Mbarara. After lunch, drive to Bwindi. This is the lush green highland rainforest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds, valleys, hilltops and papyrus swamps, and communities living around the park. Dinner and overnight at either Gorilla Forest Camp Uganda safari lodge/ Mantana Tented Camp (High end/luxurious accommodation), or Lake Kitandara ‘s Tented Camp/ Buhoma Homestead (Medium class accommodation) or the Community Bandas (Low budget/basic accommodation).
