Catch a midday flight to Trujillo, Peru’s vibrant northern city known for its colonial charm and archaeological wonders. Upon arrival, settle into your Airbnb accommodations before heading out for an afternoon orientation tour of the city. From the comfort of the bus, you’ll get a first look at Trujillo’s colorful plazas, historic streets, and lively neighborhoods. The evening brings everyone together for a festive Welcome Dinner, where you’ll enjoy traditional Peruvian flavors and meet the local team who will guide you through your journey.What's included: flight from Lima to Trujillo, bus tour of Trujillo with a short welcome orientation, and group dinner

Begin your Trujillo adventure with a day of culture, creativity, and fun. Visit the impressive Huacas del Sol y de la Luna, ancient Moche temples that showcase Peru’s rich pre-Columbian history. Afterwards, get hands-on with a pottery workshop, shaping clay just as the Moche people once did. The celebration continues as you meet your City Friends—local youth who will join you throughout the week—for an afternoon of games, swimming, and laughter. It’s the perfect blend of history, creativity, and connection to kick off your time in Trujillo.

Take a break from scheduled activities to enjoy Trujillo at your own pace. Stroll through the colorful Plaza de Armas, browse local markets for handicrafts, or relax at your Airbnb. Families may also choose to spend time at the beautiful Botanical Gardens, a peaceful green space perfect for wandering, relaxing, and enjoying Peru’s diverse plant life. You can also meet up with your City Friends to explore together. However you spend it, this free day is yours to recharge and create your own adventure.  

Step into history at Chan Chan, the world’s largest adobe city, as you explore intricate walls, plazas, and stories of the Chimú civilization. Then continue to Huanchaco for a lively, hands-on cultural experience—learn to craft mini totora “straw” boats, try hair wraps, temporary tattoos, and bracelet making, and enjoy city exploration along the malecón. A group lunch is included to refuel between activities. For those craving extra adventure, a surfing add-on is available (conditions permitting).

The morning begins with a kids-only activity—a special visit to a local school, where they’ll meet Peruvian students, exchange cultural experiences, and enjoy interactive learning together. In the afternoon, families reunite for a lively Peruvian cooking class. While the kids help prepare simple dishes, parents can enjoy a cocktail demonstration and sample local flavors. Enjoy a free day to relax and explore Trujillo at your own pace—wander through the city’s plazas, shop local markets, or spend time with your City Friends. For those craving adventure, join the optional sandboarding excursion in Conache. After a scenic drive to the desert oasis, you’ll try your hand at sandboarding down golden dunes, then refuel with a delicious lunch before returning to the city.

Gather one last time with your group for a warm farewell brunch, celebrating new friendships and the memories made in Trujillo. Afterward, if you are participating in the Cusco extension, transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco, the gateway to the Andes and Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, settle into your hotel for an overnight stay and begin adjusting to the high altitude. To ease the transition, we recommend taking it slow, enjoying light meals, and trying a traditional cup of coca tea—a local remedy that helps visitors acclimate comfortably.

Visit highlights such as the grand Cathedral, the sacred Temple of the Sun (Qorikancha), and surrounding archaeological sites, all while learning the stories that make Cusco the historic heart of the Andes.

Take a full day to enjoy Cusco at your own rhythm. Wander through colorful markets, discover hidden cafés, or simply soak in the lively atmosphere of the Plaza de Armas. Depending on flight times, you may have a few hours to relax or enjoy a final stroll before heading to the airport for your international journey home.
