We had a fantastic Full week Birding, by the hand of great guide Gabriel Raza. Very good guide! A fantastic new collection of birds! Giant Antpitta! Toucan Barbet! Plate-billed Montain toucan!, Masked Trogon! Quetzal, turquoise Jay! And a great variety of Hums and passerines! Very good accomodations with fabolous vistals. Delicious meals and lovely people! Olinguitos, giant earthworms, and Plate Billed Mountain Toucans Oh My! My incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and friendly guide, Gabriel Raza, took me up and down the western slope of the Andes for an amazing adventure seeking out all the natural treasures this part of Ecuador has to offer. He expertly took video clips of the special birds we found through his scope with my cell phone which are the best souvenirs I could ask for. As a woman travelling alone I could not have felt safer and more cared for on this trip.

Gabriel the tour guide was very knowledgeable and very nice to go walk with, always conscious about safety and the surroundings, he knows his subject matter very well and is able to identify each species and all the birds, plants and animals and information, excellent tour, and fantastic accommodations, thank you

We’re from San Francisco, CA and we spent two nights at Bellavista Cloud Forest Lodge in August of ‘25. We didn’t want to leave. We had such a great visit. The staff was warm and welcoming and the FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! I’m a birding guide and we were definitely there for the birding-which was phenomenal. We had an unforgettable full day tour with the amazing Juan Carlos Crespo. It was great to meet and speak with Bellavista’s proprietor Richard Parsons to learn about the origins of the Reserve and the Lodge. Special thanks also to Christian and Santiago for all of their assistance while we were there. Lovely place, lovely people, stunning setting. Hope we can visit again sometime soon. -JT Birds
