About this trip

I give it a 2/5 because of the following events:
-Slow communication and response to messages.  
-Tour guy was not friendly.
-During the journey an incident happened between one of the drivers (an underage driver) and a person that was driving on the road. There was even violence and we had to wait until the situation got better. 
-This tour does not include any entrances and they only accept soles/ cash. 
-No water or snacks are given for a tour that lasts more than 5 hours. 
-Drivers with experience should be separated from first time drives so everyone enjoys the experience to the fullest.

I was a bit nervous when I recieved the confirmation email the day before my tour Because of all the tickets which were needed for the entire day. However, everything was laid out perfectly and in order. The team was also available via WhatsApp if I had any question's. They made this trip very enjoyable and memorable.

Cusco City Tour Half day

Humantay lake is just fantastic & must see. 
We had the opportunity to take a horse - 1way = 80 soles - we cannot recommend more. 

Our guide - Hilton - didn’t like that we ask to have the English translation. While this was booked for English. We had to ask 3/4 times to translate from Spanish - which he ended up doing - but we truly felt how ennoying it was for him.

The food was ok - but my husband got pretty sick at night.

It was finally finished / went back at 4pm - not 6pm - but good for us. The bus time is quite long 3h30 to 4h00 - 1 way. 



Juan was the best guide we had during our trip in Pérou ! He was very friendly, knowledgeable & passionate.

The downside is the fact that we have a mix of Spanish + English speaker - so all needed to be translated twice.


Sacred Valley of the Incas Full Day

Very well organised and communicated. I absolutely loved my guide, who was so passionate, knowledgeable, and a great storyteller. Would highly recommend them for this trip. It is worth noting that Machu Picchu gets very crowded, there is a single bus system up with hundreds and hundreds of people in the line, and choosing which circuit to book can be very confusing. Having them assist with all of this was much appreciated.

Ziplining and ATV riding was fantastic!! My family with 3 teenagers had the best time! The guide for ziplining was great and told us a lot of history about Cusco. 

Great communication pre-trip. Enjoyed our trail guide’s assistance and education about the area. The breakfast and lunch spot had great food as well! Definitely recommend!

Thanks to Willka and all the guides (Cesar, Joe, Carilia, and one more guy) who helped us along the journey. This was not a common itinerary so we were attached to different groups and some legs were completely ad-hoc. But the journey has been completely smooth and seamless. Especially enjoyed the Machu Picchu tour we got. Thank you so much!

Humantay Lake + Machu Picchu 2 Days / 1 Night

Having done a Sacred Valley tour with Willka Travel earlier in the week, which was very enjoyable, we booked ourselves onto the South Valley tour. We enjoyed aspects of the day, and had an excellent tour guide in Bernabe, however it was all a bit muddled and chaotic.

1. The pick-up. When it says in the instructions you’re getting picked up from your hotel, you'd assume this would be in a vehicle, however it was just a random person on foot who came to our hotel to walk us down the hill to the minibus. If we had known this we would have made our own way there. If you have mobility issues you may want to double check this with the tour provider before booking on.

2. Was it actually Willka Travel? I don't think so. When we got to the minibus, it turned out to be a random group of men, with no obvious ties to the tour operator, running the show. One of them I can only assume was the work experience kid as he did very little but hover around the group the entire day looking a bit bored.

3. No church. We were aware that the church at Andahuaylillas was closed, however when I messaged Willka Travel about this before booking on they told me we would visit the church in Huaro instead. We did not. We did however visit three 'cultural stops', each involving forced selling. With all these additional stops, even without the church, we did not get back into Cusco until 3:30pm.

4. Lunch. It is not included in the cost of the tour and the place is so close to Cusco they may as well just take you back into the city so you can go for lunch elsewhere.

South Valley of Cusco Half Day

We had an amazing tour with Juan visiting Pisaq and Ollantaytambo. The tour was very well organized and Juan was super knowledgeable. I'm glad we took the tour at the beginning of our trip so that we're equipped with things to look for the rest of the trip. The buffet lunch and visits to souvenir shops were meh..

Overall, the experience was okay. Loved the ATV ride through sacred valley. Felt a bit ripped off by the fact that we had to purchase a separate Tourist Ticket with cash given the amount of money already paid in USD for the whole package. 70 SOL per person (140) for literally just 20 min at one site, then have to run off and go back. I would've rather just saved the 140 and wait by the ATV. Complete waste. 

Joel, our Macchu Picchu tour guide was quite an unpleasant and his attitude very blasé. The dude seemed extremely tired of his job and like he was sick of tourists. My wife and I were always pointing out how all the other tour guides were so happy and full of energy and enthusiastic. A Portuguese guide was even explaining the history of Macchu Picchu on the bus ride up. Joel was nowhere to be found. When he spoke, extremely soft spoken and dull. I found myself listening to other tour guides as he was speaking, as they were more interesting and engaging. If not, I probably would have fell asleep. 

Perhaps I just got unlucky with this guy, but i cannot say it was the best experience for what I paid in USD. 



ATV Tour Through the Sacred Valley + Machu Picchu 2D/1N

Definitely book with these guys. They are great, and even though it is a long and full day the Sacred Valley with all of the things to see and Incan culture is not to be missed! If you do nothing else, do this.
Willkas communication was brilliant. I hadn't received any emails for confirmation or anything so used the chat feature on their website and I figured out that I had buggered it up when booking the tour. They responded promptly and with all the info I was chasing.
Juan our driver and Juan our guide were great. They made us all feel welcome. Juan's driving kept us all safe and on time and Juan's guide work and DJ skills were fantastic. He had books and pages of info but only ever used them for the pictures, he knows all the info by heart.
I had a wonderful time on this trip and definitely recommend it to anyone with a day to spare from Cusco.

Great Moray and Maras tour. The guide spoke pretty well English and the minibus was very comfortable. 

Maras Salt Mines and Moray

We had a great time as a family of four, 2 adults and 2 kids ages 8 and 10.   The staff did a great job of guiding us, providing information and taking really great photos and videos for us!  Overall, highly recommend this tour! 

Could not recommend this trip enough, wonderful service from the guide, he got me up a very difficult trail (for me), and we had some amazing scenery.
A brilliant experience that I may not have made it with anyone else, he really went the extra mile to help us.

PEROLNIYOC WATERFALL TREK FULL DAY

One of the highlights of my trip. The guide was wonderful and being able to take in the sights by ATV was very unique

Nosso guia Erwin foi ótimo, fez nosso passeio ser excepcional. Passou muito conhecimento sobre toda a historia com bastante clareza e paciência.


This was an amazing tour! The ATV ride was super fun, I spent my childhood on those and the guides were really permissive 😃.  And the two places we visit were also worthing it!

MACHU PICCHU COMBO: TICKETS + BUSES + GUIDE 1 Day

Good. The driver was on time. No English which is fine since it’s our own problem with us  speaking little Spanish. We just didn’t understand why our train time didn’t show up. We sat at the train station and it said “inca” train but never “Peru” train so it kind of stressed us out. It did show up but it just wasn’t clear. 

We got to Manchu Picchu and someone was there to meet us. We had an hour to explore on our own which was great.

The part I didn’t like was our guide. It was a group of 4 which the tour guide told us this is pretty much a private tour so you had better tip him well.  We are American and used to tipping but it was just rude. 

The tour guide asked if we had any health issues and I told him from the start that we were coming from sea level and had issues adjusting to the altitude. He said that was fine but told the group he is into fitness and was not going to go slow. That’s exactly what he did. He left us. That was fine for my husband and I, we didn’t mind but the Indian couple that got left far behind was really upset.

The information he gave us was great but I had to take an emergency phone call from back home. My child was experiencing a tornado back home and called me scared. The tour guide “jimmy” called me out saying that he had lost my attention and embarrassed me in front of the group. 

We tipped $30. Would have tipped more if I was not  embarrassed, rushed, or felt pushed. 


We had an absolutely wonderful trip! We were so grateful to have gone through Willka Travel - they coordinated so many travel logistics with the multiple forms of transportation and everything went so smoothly. They were also very receptive to questions leading up to the trip and helped add another friend on to the itinerary last minute. They also helped us coordinate adding on at ticket for the Waynapicchu Mountain hike (requires additional fee).  We thoroughly enjoyed spending a day visiting the salt mines and Moray (plus stops at a traditional textile weaving practice and local market selling salts and chocolates) on our way to Aguas Calientes. It felt worthwhile to arrive in Aguas Calientes the night before the Machu Picchu tour to make for a slightly less early morning with less commuting. Our tour guides for both days (Mija and Victor) were excellent - so kind and welcoming and knowledgable of the sites. Our drivers and escorts were also great. Would recommend for any person or group looking for a stress free way to get around the historic sites around Cusco, take in some stunning sights and learn a lot!

MACHU PICCHU OFFICIAL TICKETS

We bought Machu Picchu tickets a month in advance, but were told 1.5 days before going to Machu Picchu that the tickets were sold out. They admitted that they dropped the ball, and didn’t get a notification for when the tickets went on sale. This probably wouldn’t have been a problem if they told us a week before going, but not right before heading over there… specially since our entire trip to Cusco revolved around Machu Picchu. They offered the next day’s tickets, but since we already had everything booked, it was too late to cancel and change trains & hotels without penalty.

This ended up costing us… we had to change our train tickets last minute to go to Aguas Calientes the night before (charged extra for the late change), to be able to buy Machu Picchu tickets in person, and then spend an extra hotel night in Aguas Calientes, when we already had a place to stay.

Saved us from waiting in line to buy bus tickets, and be one of the first ones to get on the bus up to Machu Picchu.

Leaving from base camp vs Cusco was far more convenient for us. Our transfer arrived promptly after our tour was over. Smooth ride and would absolutely book again.

TRANSPORTATION ATV BASE IN MARAS - OLLANTAYTAMBO

Was blown away by this trip! Had a wonderful time learning about natural dyes, textiles and seeing the amazing salt mines. Would 100% recommend. Our guide was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable!

We had a great time. The guide was so knowledgeable and very good at managing people. It's a pity we didn't get to see Chinchero archoleogical Park. Moray and Maras were lovely spots. The bus was comfortable. Would recommend.

Wonderful experience! Our guide was great; he was with us the whole way, went at our pace and talked about the history of the place and took amazing pictures. Hike was challenging but worth it. Glad we went early in the morning as it got incredibly crowded about 30 minutes after we arrived. Would 100% recommend!

My husband and I had a great time at this trip to Sacred Valley. Our guide Juan was amazing, and explained all the details of Inca culture and history of the places we visited. The itinerary of the tour was nicely planned and well executed. All in all, we had a great time, visiting all the places and enjoying the spectacular views

In my group my parents didn't know Spanish so they managed to find someone who knew some Portuguese and that was special 

Passeio pontual e com algumas explicações, porém o guia apenas concedia 20 minutos para que o grupo explorasse os locais, o que não era o suficiente para apreciarmos toda a região e nem explorar as construções. Além disso, íamos andando e vimos diversos guias dando explicações e acompanhando o grupo por volta dos sítios arqueológicos, enquanto o nosso guia apenas liberou nosso grupo para andar pelo local, sem acompanhamento e apressando para irmos embora.

Nota pela pontualidade e beleza do local, porém o guia não deu nenhuma assistência e quando chegamos no topo da lagoa, ficou apressando e não permitiu que apreciássemos a vista. Agendei 3 passeios com a agência e em todas tive problema com o guia.

Nota dada apenas pela pontualidade no recolhimento no hotel. Passeio muito apressado, o guia apressou o grupo durante todo o tempo do passeio. No início do passeio, pedimos para que ele falasse em espanhol, pois meu acompanhante não falava inglês, porém quando chegamos à Moray e o guia não queria fazer as explicações sobre o local, fui falar em inglês com ele e ficou revoltado e reclamou por ter tido que falar espanhol. Além disso, explicou sobre a história do local de forma extremamente breve, menos de 3 minutos e ficamos no local por menos de 20 minutos. Para terminar, o guia saiu e foi embora com todo o grupo e me deixou junto com meu advogado no local sozinhos. Passeio corrido, sem explicação, guia grosso e sem acompanhamento de grupo. 

Guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I very much appreciated his ability to negotiate with the ticketing clerks/guards to ensure that we were able to visit the sight even though we arrived a few minutes after the gates closed.
