This 4-day trek covers the central section of the Ak-Suu Transverseâone of Kyrgyzstanâs most scenic high-mountain routes. Starting in Karakol, the first day includes a trek to Karakol Peak with stunning alpine views and an overnight stay at an alpine camp in a yurt. The trail then passes through Karakol Gorge, alpine meadows, the turquoise Ala-Kul Lake (3,550 m), and over the Ala-Kul Pass (3,906 m), before descending to the natural hot springs of Altyn-Arashan. The trek ends in Ak-Suu Village with a short transfer back to Karakol. Overnight stays in tents and yurts provide an authentic Kyrgyz trekking experience.

We depart from Karakol in the morning and drive about 1.5 hours to the trailhead. After picking up our lunch bags, we trek 7 km to the foot of Karakol Peak (approx. 3â3.5 hours).
We enjoy lunch at the peak, spend about 1 hour taking in the views, then descend back to the alpine camp (2 hours). In the evening, we have a campfire, group briefing for the next day, and overnight in a yurt.

After breakfast, begin a steady ascent from 2,500 m toward Ala-Kul Lake. Rest at a small mountain hut before continuing the climb. Upon reaching the turquoise lake at 3,550 m, explore the area and set up camp. Depending on conditions, optional boating/kayaking may be possible.
