Night Walking Tour: Most of the jungle comes to life at night. This makes night the best time of day to see strange and beautiful frogs, insects, and other nocturnal animals. The guide will take you along a path that leaves from near the Lodge for an exciting hour and a quarter. Our night walk through the jungle gives you the unique opportunity to see the nocturnal wonders of the Amazon rainforest. In the deep darkness, surrounded by hundreds of jungle sounds and with the help of powerful lights, you enter a world inhabited by the most unique, diverse and timid creatures. Many animals, especially insects, amphibians, and reptiles, hide from predators during the day. This means that night is the best time to find beautiful tree frogs, shy snakes, and other jungle creatures that only come out at night. From Night Monkeys to Fireflies, from Tarantulas to Stick Bugs, you never know what incredible creature you'll find.

Walk to Misahualli beach to climb in one of the canoes and start your trip on one of the largest rivers in the Amazon, up to the Amazoonico. The trip lasts about 45 minutes on the Napo river, with incredible views, until you reach the animal rescue center. You will discover another river, the Arajuno, in the Selva Viva reserve. The Amazoonico was built to recover and care for animals rescued from black traffic or from serious injuries due to domestic issues. You will be able to see monkeys in the wild, tigrillos, boas, tapirs, and several other animals in a state of rehabilitation. Unfortunately you will not be able to see the free animals as they are once again free in the reserve, and away from humans. Take advantage of the trip to visit the alligator lagoon, before your return to Misahualli. This activity can be combined with a visit to a community along the river for example.

Jatun Sacha is the "Great jungle" in the Kichwa language; a large biological reserve that has been under protection for many years. Large and small rivers cross primary and secondary forests, houses of various species of animals and thousands of birds. The walk is approximately 13kms, you will need between 5 and 6 hours to walk everything. It is not a very difficult hike, but it is physical and at the end of the day your legs will feel it. You will be able to observe insects, birds and a great diversity of plants. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to observe daytime animals.You will arrive in the Kichwa community of Santa Barbara to eat a typical lunch, learn a little about the indigenous culture and dance for a while. A canoe will wait for you to descend on the still waters of the Arajuno River. If it is not easy, it is because it is true jungle; thick, muddy and so green. If you want the real Amazon experience, you are going to want to go to Jatun Sacha.

Shiripuno, Machacu Yacu, Sinchi Warmi, Awarina, Santa Barbara and many more are Kichwa communities, all with a particular specialty. Ask us for advice! From preparing chocolate, panning for gold, watching traditional dances, making crafts, to understanding the realities of Kichwa life, you will have a very pleasant day full of interesting activities. You can choose the activities à la carte, thus spending only a few hours or the whole day. You will learn a lot about their culture and their knowledge. We recommend you try the traditional lunch, the Maito! (fish or chicken cooked on a large sheet) and its delicious chocolate. You can combine your visit with various activities, such as Tubbing, waterfalls, boat rides, walks, ...
