What to bring: Comfortable and light clothing. Long and comfortable pants for walking. Long sleeve t-shirts. Sun protection, glasses, water bottle and insect repellent.

Rainwear. Headlamp for the night walk, camera, and, if possible, long views.

ITINERARY: Itinerary may vary depending on the weather, security, operation of the lodge, etc.

WEATHER: The Amazon is generally hot and humid, with constant rain. The dry season goes from October to March with temperatures ranging from 19 °C to 36 °C during the year.

HEALTH: No vaccinations are required, but it is recommended that everyone be vaccinated against Covid-19 for greater peace of mind for all passengers. In the lodge, we have all the important medicines for emergencies, but it is the client's responsibility to have travel insurance.

Bus + Canoe to lodge + Guided walk in the jungle
AM: Transportation from Lago Agrio to "El Puente" (Cuyabeno Reserve entrance)

PM: Canoe ride down the Cuyabeno river to the Lodge. Lunch is served at the Lodge around 14:00. In the afternoon the activity will begin around 16:00, to visit the Laguna Grande and other nearby attractions. Around 17:30, you will arrive at the lagoon to swim and watch the sunset, which is one of the most amazing parts of the tour. At 18:00 an exciting night walk awaits you, where you will get to see lots of insects, spiders and enjoy jungle sounds.

Dinner is served at 20:00. After dinner, the guide will provide you with a Cuyabeno Reserve and Lodge briefing along with the next day itinerary. Off to rest.

Walk in the primary jungle + Laguna Grande
If you like, you can go bird watching at sunrise at the top of the canopy tower.

Breakfast is served at 08:00 am.

After breakfast, you will take a short canoe ride to Laguna Grande. Then, you will take a walk throughout some trails in the jungle for about 3 hours where you will learn about medicinal plants and the biological flora and fauna.

Lunch is at 15:00. After lunch you will have time to relax by the river or enjoy a siesta in one of our hammocks. The afternoon activity starts around 16:00, which includes taking a short canoe ride to nearby lagoons and the Cuyabeno river to look for wildlife. Around 17:30 it is time to swim in the laguna grande and watch the sunset. Around 18:00, the alligator search activity starts. If you are lucky, you might be able to see the Amazon Tree Boa, which is common to see at night.

Dinner at 20:00 and off to rest!

Cuyabeno + Siona Community + Shaman
Breakfast at 08:00 am.

The canoe ride around the Cuyabeno River starts at 9:00am, slowly looking for wildlife from the canoe. In about an hour you will arrive to the indigenous community, where you will visit an indigenous family. Here the guide will talk about their culture and traditions. Following the emblematic activity of the elaboration of the traditional food called “Casabe”. The preparation includes demonstration and tasting of traditional food.

Further down the Cuyabeno River, we will visit a Shaman and get to know his culture and traditions. Afterwards, you will receive a treatment with a medicinal plant called «red nettle».

After visiting the Shaman, we will make a stop at the Cuyabeno River to admire the largest rain forest tree called «Ceiba», then we will head back to the lodge. You will arrive around 16:00, then you can take a break to enjoy some coffee or tea.

If you don't feel tired yet, you can head to the lagoon to watch the last sunset and look for animals that you haven't seen yet. Dinner at 20:00.

Early in the morning, we go bird watching or to look for other animals in the tranquility of the dawn.

Breakfast starts at 08:00 am. After breakfast it is time to pack. At 9:00am you will start your way back to the Cuyabeno Reserve entrance. Throughout the river, you will have time to take a final look at the jungle flora and fauna. The tour ends at Lago Agrio around 14:00pm.

From Lago Agrio you can travel to any destination in Ecuador.

The best trip of my life! I was hesitant at first as I didn't know where to start with planning my trip or the best places to visit etc. And having never heard of this company I was a bit dubious as the price is so much cheaper than other companies. But it paid off massively and is honestly the best thing I have ever done. Juan Pablo the organizer was incredible from start to finish. He made the whole process so smooth for me, I really didn't have to worry about anything the whole time, he even ensured I received the most beautiful vegetarian meals for the duration of my stay. He even helped when my phone broke on one of the islands and I needed extra assistance/ advice which I was so grateful for. I actually can't believe how much I saw/ did for the price I paid compared to the nearly double the price if not more of most cruise based tours I'd seen. I saw every animal I'd been hoping to, multiple times. There was always someone to pick me up and take me to my destination, they were always on time and super helpful considering I was by myself and couldn't speak any spanish! It really was the trip of a lifetime and I'd recommend this company to anyone, you won't regret it!!

The most amazing/ perfect trip that I ever could have imagined. The staff were incredibly friendly/ welcoming/ helpful. The site and chalet I stayed in were way better than I imagined, the food was gorgeous and freshly cooked for every meal, catering so well for a veggie diet in the middle of nowhere. The guide went out of his way to make everyone's experience there incredible and tailor it to anything you specifically wanted where possible. We saw the river dolphins 6 times in the 4 days, as well as a tonne of other wildlife. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience and I'd recommend it to anyone, the value for money in my opinion was phenomenal.

Juan Pablo of Smart Galapagos organised a fantastic 8 day Galapagos experience for my group of 4 friends. It could not have been better organised. The hotels were all comfortable with lovely, helpful staff and great views. The restaurants were always the best in town. We saw all the major sights on the three main islands and it all ran like clockwork. He got us great prices and made sure we had a lot of extras.
