Mount Meru is located in Arusha National Park, so on the first day of the trek, accompanied by a ranger, you will have the opportunity to see baboons, buffalo, giraffes and other wildlife. You ascend through different vegetation zones of Mount Meru, from grasslands to rainforest, bogs to alpine desert. Mount Meru is below Kilimanjaro. Most of our clients use 4 Days Mount Meru climbing tours and activities Tanzania. This combination is also possible with us on request. We recommend you to climb Mount Meru Tanzania for 4 days as you will gain much experience than those who hike only 3 days and 1 day. The 3-day tour is also suitable for experienced and fit mountain hikers with altitude experience. On the third day of the shortened tour, after the summit you hike directly to the Momella Gate. Overnight stays are in simple wooden huts.
In the morning after breakfast, before departure, we will have a general briefing about your 4-day Mount Meru trek and check your trekking equipment. You will be picked up from your hotel in Moshi/Arusha. The drive to Arusha National Park takes about an hour. Once your guide has completed the necessary paperwork, the journey continues to Momella Gate, the starting point of your trek. Along the way you can see giraffes, zebras and many other animals. Due to the wildlife in the park, you will be escorted from Puerta Momella by an armed park ranger. The route takes you through the Ngare Nanyuki River, while walking along the river you can see herds of buffalo, baboons and other animals. Soon the Mount Meru Trek takes you through the forest on the first day, after about two hours you will reach the small Mayo Falls, here a meadow is an ideal place for your picnic. After relaxing a bit, continue hiking to the "Bow Fig Tree," a unique tree that spans the path like a gate. After another 2 hours you will reach the Miriakamba Hut.
