About this trip

The Tiputini Biodiversity Station (TBS) is a biological field station  established in Amazonian Ecuador in 1994 by the Universidad San  Francisco de Quito in collaboration with Boston University. It serves as  steward of 638 hectares (about 1500 acres) of primary lowland rainforest  approximately 300km (200 mi) ESE of Quito. TBS is situated on the north  bank of the Tiputini River, a southern tributary of the Napo River  within the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve.

Neotropical Nature and Birding Trips
50 reviews
We are a family of entrepreneurs passionate for nature and our charming country Ecuador. We provide personalized top-notch services with a wide variety of tours through some of the most amazing destinations in Ecuador. Neotropical Nature & Birding Trips is an initiative to promote sustainable development in fragile and threatened ecosystems in Ecuador through ecotourism, education, birding, photography and research; by supporting locally managed ecotourism projects, supporting long term conservation in the zones of influence through low impact activities for the ecosystems. We strongly believe that responsible tourism is a powerful tool to resist the pressure of the wrong exploitation of natural resources and at the same time promoting the well-being of the people and their cultures, with positive impact in the living quality of the local communities where we operate our trips.

Our birdwatching tour through the Antisana highlands and park was the perfect finale to our Ecuador vacation. Santiago has an expert level of knowledge of all of the local species both by eye and ear which enabled us to ultimately view many bird species that we would have otherwise passed by. We were able to ultimately see a pair of Andean Condors to finish the tour, and recommend this tour to any wildlife, bird, or park enthusiast coming through Quito with a day to spare.

Our Mindo tour was wonderful. Santiago is an outstanding birdwatching guide, and his local knowledge really made the tour exceptional. I recommend this full day tour and the cock-of the rock add-on for any birdwatchers coming through the Mindo or Quito area. Great day!

This is my second visit to Zuro Loma and, again, it was brilliant. There is always constant action, from hummers to flowerpiercers to guans to ant pittas. The team at Zuro Loma are very attentive to the feeders and the action. They really try to make the visit as fruitful as possible for twitchers and photographers. Neotropical Nature and Birding Trips were, as always outstanding. Santiago is a great guide and of tremendous help in getting the best shots. Gabriela, in the office, is a model of kindness, flexibility and efficiency. I recommend this company with complete confidence to any birder visiting the neotropics.

Great trip! Gaby and Santiago did a great job of sorting out our itinerary (at short notice); arrangements went smoothly in Ecuador - we didn't see any trouble at all!! As ever the birds, wildlife and scenery didn't disappoint - even though this was our fourth trip we still managed to get a number of 'lifers'. Most memorable moment (amongst many) was 'hanging' off a cliff at 13000+ feet waiting for condors to fly, which they did - and watching a spectacled bear eating it's breakfast! Thank you Santiago and Gaby for organising the trip
