About this trip

This safari tour gives you the best of both worlds. Day 1 : Arrival in Hwange

You will be met at Victoria Falls Airport by a representative from Aritsamaye Safaris. From there you are transferred by road to Robins Camp, your lodge in Hwange National Park. It's a two-hour in an air-conditioned minivan. The camp is named after Herbert George Robins. Robins Camp area was originally ‘Little Toms’ and ‘Big Toms’ farms. The farms were acquired by H.G. Robins in the early 1900’s. He also acquired another farm and finally had some 26,000 acres of land. He put a stop to shooting and took active steps to stop poaching on his land, which had been a hunting ground because of the large variety and number of games and developed a large private zoological park. A government gazette issued on 24th February 1928 announced that 14,600 sq. km of land was to be established as Wankie Game Reserve now Hwange National Park. When you get to the lodge you will refresh and relax after a long journey. You will have your delicious dinner and rest surrounded by African wilderness sounds.

Day 2 : Indulge in Safari

After a hearty breakfast you will start your first safari activity with a morning game drive. With over 100 species present, Hwange has the widest variety of mammals of any national park in the world. It also has one of the largest elephant populations. There are 20,000 to 70,000 individuals that congregate around the waterholes toward the end of the Dry season. The park has an impressive variety of antelope, including some of the unusual species such as sable antelope and greater kudu. You will return to camp by midday for a rest and lunch will be served. In the afternoon you will choose between an afternoon game drive and a guided safari walk which will bring you closer to nature. After an eventful day of exploration you will return to camp by sunset to a delicious dinner then you relax the rest of the evening.

You will start your day with an early morning game drive which gives you a chance to see some nocturnal animals as they retire to bed. You will return to camp in time for your full breakfast and thereafter it will be time to pack and leave for Victoria Falls by mid day. On arrival in Victoria Falls you will be checked in at Pioneers Victoria Falls Lodge.Lunch will be on your own account. In the evening you will be picked from your lodge and be transferred to an afrocentric dinner fused with an African Drumshow. Its called the "Boma Dinner" The four-course feast begins with a shared starter platter followed by soup from the campfire, a selection of salads and vegetarian dishes, a braai (barbecue) buffet featuring game meats and stews, and an array of desserts and non-stop entertainment culminating in an interactive drumming show combine to make this a “must do” Victoria Falls experience. Great tour, our guide Locs was very punctual , professional and knowledgeable. He picked us from the airport in a private vehicle and took us to our hotel and then later took us to all the places we were doing our activities around.

This was an excellent safari. The combination of a land game drive and a boat let us see a variety of animals and with different behaviors. The transition through the border was smooth with our guides helping us get through efficiently as well. I would highly recommend this as a day trip from Victoria Falls. We saw many elephants, zebra, giraffes, lions, impala, kudu, hippos, buffalo, crocodiles, water monitor, and so many beautiful birds!

What a brilliant experience! We loved the opportunity to view the animals in the safari vehicle and also from the water. The guides were excellent and the day was action packed. Highlights were seeing a pride of 10 lions snd the elephants crossing the river to the grasses. Totally recommend:-)
