Gorilla trekking begins at 7:30am, you will be set up with all you need for success including lunch box, camera, water, hiking boots and long pants. You will meet the Uganda Wildlife rangers and guides to give an introduction on gorilla rules. The time you’re going to spend watching gorillas is not only a once in a lifetime wildlife experience but also an opportunity to play your part towards conserving their natural habitats and while benefiting local communities. You will hire a porter to carry your bags and give you a hand during the tough hike that can last 1 to 5 hours while searching for gorillas, you will finally reach them and come face to face just 7 metres away with the Silverback gorilla and his family. Ask your guides to know more about gorilla habitats and other flora and fauna. Return for lunch and relaxation at the lodge.

 Another thing to do is a village walk when you have finished lunch and feel ready to take a walk outside the park. Among the local people include the Batwa pygmies and how they lived originally in the forest. Tourism in the community provides alternative means of livelihoods that can help save gorillas. Leave Bwindi for Kibale with the option to drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park for elephant and tree climbing lions with lunch stop in Fort Portal town. Arrive at Kibale forest national park in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Kibale forest forms part of the broader Albertine rift valley and is home to 13 primate species including chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, and red tailed monkeys. It will be your perfect place to see chimpanzees and lots of monkeys on the nearby Bigodi swamp.

Chimpanzee trekking will begin at 7:30 am at Kanyanchu visitor centre where visitors gather together. Take heed to what your rangers say to do and not to do while in the forest searching for chimps, you might spot other monkeys, birds and plants. The trek can last 1 to 5 hours depending on where the chimps will be found. But you will love to spend 1 hour taking photos and observing man’s closest relatives. Return to the centre and later settle for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, visit the Bigodi swamp for birds and monkeys and meet the local people. 

Dinner and overnight at Kibale Forest.

You will return to Kampala or Entebbe which is a 315 km (6-hour drive) from Kibale forest. Expect to reach the city early afternoon and transfer to the airport for departure or your preferred place of stay. End of 5 days gorillas and chimpanzees tour Uganda.
