About this trip

The purpose of this yoga retreat is to dive into the layers that make up your being and connect to and empower your innermost self. To do this you will explore different yogic practices to provide you with the tools to develop your personal practice and connection to self. Through asana (physical movement), meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques), philosophy, education, journaling & community, they introduce a week of offerings into one unique and memorable experience.

In the in-between time, you will discover local Costa Rican culture, and embark on adventures of land and sea. Experience surfing, cloud forest & sea turtle tours, zip-lining, horseback riding, & more. Time for introspection & relaxation is also encouraged.

Each day of the retreat will be focused on a different layer of your being to develop an awareness of the interconnectedness of body, mind, and heart. Then offer a variety of yoga class styles, workshops, group activities & meditations for building your practice.

(E-RYT 500) Raleigh native Diala was introduced to yoga in 2011 while earning her B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics. After a few classes, she noticed a shift in her mind and body. This shift sparked her curiosity about the philosophy of yoga, and lead her to complete her 200 hour YTT in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. In an immersion program, she studied the practices which ultimately help us become our most humble and content selves. In November 2018 she earned her 300 hr certification at Akhanda Yoga School in Rishikesh, India. She has since taught and participated in yoga across the globe in over 10 countries, across Europe, Asia, and Australia. She spent ten days in silent meditation (Vipassana) in New Zealand to better understand her mind. Yoga has taught Diala to ride the waves of life instead of trying to fight them. She believes wherever you are in your practice is always enough, but when you’re ready she’ll give you the extra push you need to pass your expectations.

This was such an amazing retreat, I was expecting mostly a lot of yoga but it was so much more. A lot of fun activities and relaxation mixed in, an ideal summer retreat at the top of the mountain with superb views, amazing teachers, and awesome people. This turned out to be the highlight of my summer. Thank you!
Fantastic location! The view over the mountains was breathtaking and we could see all the stars and the milky way during night. I loved the decor of the hangar. We were sleeping in the "hallway" and I slept like a baby. I think that some light sleepers had trouble sleeping but I didn't. The bed was super comfy and it was a very dark corner of the building. Diala provided us with ear plugs as well :-) I did bring my own pillow and duvet, and that might have helped. The food served during the weekend was very yummy and it was fun to try some new dishes and types of food that I would never have cooked myself. Everything was fresh and there were fruit and snacks available the whole time. We tried several different types of yoga and went paddleboarding and hiking, so it was an active weekend! Diala and Lauren are both very good and inspiring yoga teachers. The lake and the river where we went swimming were in such beautiful settings. I ran in the mornings, but the hangar is located on the mountain so unless you want to run downhill and then uphill, you have to run several rounds around the houses, which was ok since the view was amazing. It did get chilly, especially the first evening and morning, so bring enough layers. Our group was also really cool. People were very relaxed and friendly and we had loads of fun.
This retreat exceeded my expectations. It was clear that a lot of planning had gone into making this a special experience for the participants. The property is beautiful and unique. The food was amazing, the yoga was challenging and rejuvenating, the yoga instructors are highly-qualified and the participants were dedicated to learning and fun!
I had a great time. They provided some of the healthiest and delicious food I have ever had. The location, accommodations and hospitality were top notch. Forever grateful.
Everything about this retreat was so well organized, and the quality of care for everyone who went was exceptional. The location was simply magical, both with inviting hospitality and a peaceful stillness, nestled on the peak of a mountain with breathtaking views. The prepared food was delicious, while still remaining conscious of healthy eating and individual food preferences. One of the BEST retreat experiences I've had! Much gratitude to Diala and Nova Retreats. I look forward to the next one! :D
