About this trip

Injury-Aware Teaching | 50-Hour YACEP Supported Study

Deepen your knowledge. Strengthen your teaching. Learn in the way that works for you.

The Injury-Aware Teaching 50-Hour YACEP Supported Study with Kootenay Yoga School is designed for yoga teachers who want to develop a more informed, thoughtful and adaptable approach to movement, injury awareness and sustainable teaching.

This is a self-driven, practical continuing-education experience with two different ways to participate: complete the program independently from home, or immerse yourself in the learning in person alongside the energy of a Kootenay Yoga School teacher training.

Choose Your Learning Experience

Study From Home — Self-Paced

Complete the 50-hour program individually, from the comfort of your own home and at a pace that works with your life. You will work through the course manual, research, reflections, assignments and class-development requirements independently, while receiving guidance from a Kootenay Yoga School representative for assistance, accountability and program coordination.

This option is ideal for teachers who want the depth and structure of continuing education without the need to travel.

In-Person Supported Study — 1 Week to 1 Month

For a more immersive experience, join us in person at one of our three Kootenay Yoga School training locations:

Isla Mujeres, Mexico • Joshua Tree, California • Christina Lake, British Columbia

Our standard supported-study experience is approximately one week, with the opportunity to extend your stay to two weeks or up to one month, with discounted rates available for longer stays.

Your program will take place alongside one of our regularly scheduled 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings. This creates a unique environment where you can pursue your own advanced area of study while remaining connected to a community of teachers and students.

There will be dedicated protocols in place to protect the learning environment and curriculum of our YTT students, while also creating intentional opportunities for appropriate interaction, observation and shared learning. One of the most valuable aspects of the in-person program is the opportunity to develop and ultimately present your Injury-Aware Teaching seminar and physical movement class to YTT students, allowing you to put your research into practice in a real teaching environment.

Your Location. Your Timeline. Your Study.

Our supported-study dates are intentionally flexible; however, all in-person dates must be coordinated with Kootenay Yoga School because these programs operate alongside our existing YTT calendar.

Availability is offered throughout the year, but the exact experience may vary depending on the location and dates you select. Meals, excursions, ceremonies, classes, activities and opportunities to participate in portions of the YTT experience are date- and location-dependent.

Reach out to us before booking so we can help you choose the location, dates and length of stay that best support your learning goals.

Whether you study quietly from home or spend several weeks immersed in one of our training communities, the intention remains the same: to transform independent study into meaningful knowledge — and meaningful knowledge into safer, more confident and more responsive teaching.

About your organizer

In the heart of our journey, Kootenay Yoga School was created from a profound belief in holistic well-being. Recognizing the challenges of modern life, where daily routines can become repetitive cycles of wakefulness, nourishment, work, and rest, we felt the need for a sanctuary that transcends the ordinary. Our vision materialized as Kootenay Yoga School, an embodiment of holistic living.
