About your trip

🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏛️👀 A running tour through invisible Rome

If you’ve already run with me on the Hidden Rome Running Tour, the answer is yes: you can come back!

This is a new edition, with a renewed route and an updated narrative, designed to help you read Rome even more deeply.

Rome doesn’t end at the monuments.

It continues in the stones beneath your feet, in columns reused as doorways, in curved façades that still follow the shape of ancient stadiums and theatres.

This running tour is an invitation to read the city while moving through it.

You will run through the historic center following a carefully designed route that connects Trevi, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo de’ Fiori, Largo Argentina, the Jewish Ghetto and the Theatre of Marcellus. Along the way, the ancient city slowly reveals itself — not as isolated ruins, but as a living structure embedded in modern Rome.

There are no tickets, no underground sites, no museums.
Everything you see is visible from the street. The archaeology here is subtle, sometimes almost invisible, and that is precisely the point.

As we run, short narrative pauses uncover how aqueducts still feed fountains, how imperial temples became stock exchanges, how theatres turned into palaces, and how fragments of ancient Rome were reused, recycled, and absorbed into the urban fabric over centuries. The city becomes a palimpsest, and running is the perfect pace to read it.

The rhythm is relaxed and inclusive, with frequent slowdowns and stops for storytelling. This is not about speed or performance, but about moving intelligently through space, allowing history to emerge naturally from the streets around us.

This experience is designed for runners who are curious, for travelers who want more than postcard Rome, and for anyone who enjoys discovering a city through observation and movement. You don’t need to be an athlete — just comfortable with an easy run and eager to see Rome from a different perspective.

By the end of the tour, something changes.
You won’t just know more about Rome — you’ll see it differently. And every time you run through the city again, the invisible will no longer be invisible.

About your organizer

Hello! I’m Isabella, Isa for short. I was born in Calabria, but now I’m Roman by adoption. Eleven years ago I decided to start a new life in the city that has always been a dream for me: Rome. Probably the wish expressed at 9 years old in the toss coin in the Trevi Fountain came true! A fresh start! I am an Art Historian, PhD in History of Art at the University of Siena, an Archeologist,  licensed tour guide, also for the Colosseum and Vatican Museums. I am also a Fidal technician and Coni physical trainer! In 2016 was born the most important project for me: ArcheoRunning. In it I’ve combined my passions: to tell about the hostory of the city of Rome, her culture and the running! In fact, I do running tours. But not simple running tour, but real guided running tours. I have a specific mission, to make the city known from a completely new point of view through gentle movement! It is not a race or a hard workout, ArcheoRunning is well-being and happiness. In a word: #RunDipity!
