Embark on an Epic 4-Day Desert Odyssey: Marrakech to the Sahara and Beyond

Experience the enchanting allure of Morocco's desert landscapes on a thrilling 4-day expedition with Discover Sahara Tours. Beginning in the vibrant city of Marrakech, this journey will take you through the majestic High Atlas Mountains, winding through picturesque valleys to reach the dramatic Dades Gorge for your first overnight stay. From there, venture deeper into the Sahara Desert, where Berber hospitality awaits in a traditional camp amidst the dunes of Merzouga. Encounter nomadic communities, explore abandoned towns, and immerse yourself in the rich culture of the region before concluding your adventure back in Marrakech.

On day one you will make your way towards Ait Ben Haddou located in the High Atlas Mountains. This historical Kasbah, a Unesco World Heritage Site; both architecturally impressive & culturally significant. After lunch near the kasbah, you will continue to your accommodations for the night.

On day two, we journey to the vibrant dunes of Merzouga! After visiting the Gorges and stopping for lunch we continue on to the desert. Then it's time to saddle up your camel at sunset and get ready for an unforgettable evening amongst vast undulating golden sand waves inside one of Morocco’s most spectacular deserts. Wrap up this magical night under star-filled skies beneath traditional style tents!

On day 3, experience a breathtaking sunrise atop the Erg Chebbi dunes. Then continue exploring the desert landscapes in a 4x4! Visit with local nomads & marvel at how they survive despite difficult conditions while herding across both desert sand & mountains alike! Afterwards, sip some tea as you relish in traditional Berber cuisine & Gnaoua music. End your journey with dinner & a campfire with Berber music under starry skies.

***Please note that in the summer months (April - September) to ensure you have the most comfortable experience we spend one night in the Berber style camp, start our excursion to the nomads and surrounding area a bit later in the morning and stay the second night in a hotel at the edge of the dunes (Riad Chebbi or similar). We do this so that you have access to aircon and other hotel comforts in the heat of the summer which can sometimes be well over 40°C (100°F)***

On day four, you'll say goodbye to the Sahara after breakfast & hop on a camel as you embark towards Merzouga. Traverse desert landscapes & on to some serious mountain sights over crossing The High Atlas. By nightfall you will be back to Marrakech.
