After years of rambling throughout the United States, it was the Sierra Mountain range that called most to the famous writer and conservationist, John Muir. While the nearby Yosemite National Park steals the show in this region, those local to California opt for the more secluded and rugged landscapes outside the busy national park. Mammoth, you’ll find jagged peaks cutting into the sky, sparkling alpine lakes waiting for you to jump in after a sweaty hike, and adventure waiting for you around every corner.
