Location and Transport

Tailwind Jungle Lodge is located in San Pancho, Mexico on the Nayarit Riviera, Pacific Coast. San Pancho is also known as San Francisco. The lodge is located approximately 3 miles north of San Pancho on a lovely jungle road that parallels the coastline.

To reach the retreat center, fly into Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR). At the airport, you will be picked up, and your driver will take you directly to the lodge. The journey is about an hour.

Please ensure that your flight arrives by 3:30 pm on Thurs., Dec. 27, 2017. This will allow enough time to reach the retreat center, check-in, and join us for our group welcome at 6:00 pm. Our program will end at 11:00 am on Jan. 3, 2018. Please book your flight out of PVR airport from 2:00 pm onwards. This includes the 1 hour transport time, plus 2 hours to check-in at the airport.

Meals

The refrigerator in your unit will be stocked with fresh fruit, granola, and coffee/tea for you to prepare your own light breakfast each morning before our morning meditation and yoga class. Afterwards, we will have a vegetarian brunch. Dinner will consist of vegetarian, seafood, and meat options. Both of these meals will be prepared by our exclusive chef and served in the dining area at Palapa Tigre. Please let us know of any dietary needs you may have.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

A USD $500 non-refundable deposit is required to register for this retreat. The remaining balance will be due 30 days before the retreat start date.

Cancellations after Nov. 26, 2017: 100% charge of the retreat rate will incur. However, if the cancelled room does get filled, only the USD$500 deposit will be retained, and the remaining amount will be returned to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'm a little nervous about joining this retreat. I'm not sure if I will fit in. How do I know if this retreat is right for me?
A:  This is not yoga or meditation boot camp! This is a retreat-- you have chosen to take a break, to rest, restore, and care for yourself. If you do have yoga experience...the classes will still be gentle and/or moderate. This is the intention of the retreat.

Q: Do I need to join all the sessions?
A: Absolutely not. Everything is optional! To get the most out of the retreat program, I would recommend trying to attend as many sessions as you are up for.

Q: What's the weather like?
A: December and January are the best months to visit this region.

Q: Will there be WiFi?
A: Limited WiFi is available outside the office. WiFi at Tailwind works only for checking e-mail and browsing simple websites. We have limited downloads (no streaming music, movies or video Skype please). Internet signal fluctuates throughout the day. It’s a satellite internet system that can be affected by weather. There are also many WiFi spots and and internet cafes in San Pancho. Cell phone service in the jungle is minimal, but is available if you stand in a certain spot (Sprint/Telcel work much better than Verizon).

Q: What should I bring?
A: Mexico has a casual atmosphere. Clothes for yoga/meditation, day wear, and swim wear is enough. Some people like to dress up for dinner or the excursions, but this is not required. Wear footwear that is easy to slip on and off since you'll be taking off your shoes before entering the yoga/meditation rooms. If you plan to go hiking, bring appropriate footwear. A hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellant, water bottle, a journal, and a flashlight are all handy. The retreat center provides yoga mats. Bringing ear plugs are also a good idea. Sometimes it takes a few days to adjust to the sounds of nature, even the pleasant ocean waves, birds, or a cricket nearby.

Q: How much money should I bring?

A:
You will need Mexican pesos if you go into town for shopping and dining. Most businesses don't accept credit cards. There are no currency exchange services at Tailwind. At the airport, there are currency exchange counters and ATMs.

Q: What is the gratuity?
A: Tips for the cooks and cleaners are appreciated.
