Important Information – 6 Day Northern Tanzania Safari

Start & End Point:
The safari starts and ends in Arusha, the main gateway to Northern Tanzania. Airport transfers can be arranged from Kilimanjaro International Airport at an additional cost.

Safari Vehicle:
All game drives are conducted in a private 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser with pop-up roof, ideal for wildlife viewing and photography.

Accommodation Options:
Choose from luxury lodges, mid-range lodges, or budget tented camps, depending on your preferences and budget.

Professional Guide:

Arrival in Tanzania – Planet Lodge

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be welcomed by a representative from Hike Kilimanjaro Ltd and transferred to Planet Lodge or to the similar accommodation  in Arusha. (1-hour transfer to your lodge in Arusha), you will have a full briefing with your guide to ensure you’re fully prepared for the safari.

Note:
Your pre-safari briefing will be conducted at your hotel. If you arrive before 5:00 PM on the day prior to your safari, the briefing will take place that evening. If you arrive later, your guide will meet you for the briefing on the morning of your safari before departure. This ensures you’re fully prepared and have the opportunity to ask any last-minute questions

Please also note that hotel check-in is from midday (12:00 PM). If your flight arrives early in the morning, kindly let us know in advance. We can arrange a day-use room for you, or, if you prefer, we can organize some short activities to keep you engaged until your check-in time.

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Distance: ~120 km | Drive time: ~2 hours

  • After breakfast, depart Arusha and head to Tarangire National Park, famous for its ancient baobabs, open savannah, and large elephant herds. Enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park. Spot lions, zebras, giraffes, and possibly leopards along the Tarangire River.

  • In the late afternoon, drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Karatu to Serengeti National Park (via Ngorongoro Highlands)

Distance: ~270 km | Drive time: ~4–5 hours (with game viewing en route)

  • After breakfast, drive through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands and descend into the Serengeti via the Naabi Hill Gate. Enjoy a game drive across the endless plains en route to your tented camp. Witness giraffes, wildebeests, big cats, and more.

  • Lunch: Picnic lunch en route

  • Arrive at your camp in central Serengeti for sunset and dinner.

Full-Day Serengeti Safari

Spend a full day on safari in the central Serengeti, famous for its year-round wildlife and seasonal wildebeest migration. Morning and afternoon game drives allow time to spot lions, elephants, cheetahs, and more.

Distance: ~310 km | Drive time: ~7–8 hours (including game drive and crater tour)

  • Early breakfast and drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a thrilling game drive in the world’s largest intact caldera. Spot rhinos, lions, hyenas, hippos, and flamingos in this unique ecosystem.

  • In the afternoon, ascend the crater walls and return to Arusha for a final night
