Rise up out of the monster heather zone and climb through fine open moorland to camp by the Shira Cave at 3,840m. Crowds of eland up here (and periodic lion!) and there are captivating land highlights in the old volcanic caldera which can be seen during a half-hour discretionary stroll in the early evening. Climb 840m and 4 to 5 hours strolling.

From Shira, move towards the fundamental pinnacle Kibo, with the western glacial masses obviously noticeable across the rough high-height desert of volcanic rocks and stones.
