Morning

Breakfast at the Hotel
Fuel up for the day with a colorful Cambodian breakfast. Expect tropical fruits, noodle soups, and sweet iced coffee.

Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda
We begin our day with a guided visit to the Royal Palace, a walled compound that has been home to Cambodia’s monarchy since the 1860s. Stroll beneath gilded roofs and through manicured gardens, stepping into the opulence of Khmer royal life. Inside the Silver Pagoda—named for its floor lined with over 5,000 hand-laid silver tiles—you’ll glimpse priceless treasures, including a 90kg gold Buddha encrusted with over 2,000 diamonds.

Wat Phnom Temple
Next, we head to the legendary Wat Phnom. Built in 1372, this tranquil temple sits atop an artificial hill said to be the birthplace of Phnom Penh. It’s a peaceful place to light incense, receive a blessing, or simply reflect beneath the shade of centuries-old trees.

Afternoon

Lunch at a Local Eatery
We’ll stop for lunch at a locally loved spot near the riverside. Enjoy dishes like green mango salad, ginger chicken, and rice noodles while chatting about the morning’s discoveries.

Choeng Ek

After lunch, we shift into Cambodia’s more recent past with a visit to Choeng Ek, fifteen kilometers south of the city, and the largest and most infamous of Cambodia’s Killing Fields. More than 17,000 people were executed here between 1975 and 1979. We’ll walk the grounds in silence, passing mass graves and a memorial stupa filled with the bones of victims. It is a powerful, emotional, and essential moment in understanding Cambodia’s story. Nearby, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21) offers deeper context for this period in Cambodia’s history. Once a high school turned prison, it now stands as a sobering record of the country’s past, reminding visitors of the courage and survival of its people.

Russian Market (Toul Tumpong Market)
Step into the lively maze of the Russian Market—Phnom Penh’s most iconic shopping experience. Beneath its low-slung metal roof, you’ll wind through narrow aisles overflowing with color and energy. Handmade silks, silver jewelry, lacquered boxes, vintage LPs, and rows of glimmering Buddha statues sit side-by-side with stalls of fragrant street food and bubbling iced coffee.Originally popular with Russian expats in the 1980s (hence the name), the market is now a favorite local haunt.
