Day 1: As your expedition begins, you'll find yourself immersed in a lush, untamed wilderness, with the vibrant colors of the African landscape enveloping your senses. The Rongai Route unveils its magic as you delve into dense rainforests, where the symphony of exotic bird calls and the rustle of foliage creates an atmosphere of pure serenity.

Departing from Moshi, we’ll drive about 2 hours to Nale Moru village where registration will start. The trek from the village is a gradual trail through the lush rainforest. Keep your eyes open for colobus monkeys in the trees while taking in the beautiful surroundings. The first day’s hiking is easygoing and you will arrive at Rongai First Cave where you’ll have a chance to freshen up and have dinner.
Day 2: Your ascent continues through a dramatic change in scenery as you leave the rainforests behind and enter the moorland zone. Here, the landscape transforms into a mystical dreamscape of rolling hills, adorned with delicate and resilient alpine flora. As you traverse the otherworldly terrain, you'll catch glimpses of towering peaks in the distance, igniting a sense of anticipation for what lies ahead.

After breakfast, our hike continues through the moorland zone where you will notice the vegetation changes to shrubs and grasses. You will stop for lunch at the second cave where we meet the junction to the third cave and the Kikelelwa Camp. We will then turn east towards Kikelelwa Camp and here we will stay overnight.
Day 3: The air grows crisper, and the landscape becomes more rugged as you reach the high-alpine desert. It feels as though you're walking on the moon, surrounded by a lunar-like expanse that defies description. The silence is profound, broken only by your rhythmic footsteps and the occasional gust of wind, creating a surreal ambiance that will leave you in awe.

This is a short day with a steep climb/hike. Today, you will have a spectacular view of Lake Chala and the Kenyan border. When we arrive at Mawenzi Tarn, you will be able to see the Dendrosenecio plant (an endemic species of Mt Kilimanjaro) and experience the impressive shadow of the magnificent Mawenzi Peak. You will arrive in time for lunch and then have the whole afternoon to explore the surrounding area and acclimatize.
Day 4: The true majesty of Kilimanjaro unfolds before your eyes as you approach Kibo, the dormant volcanic cone that marks the summit. The jagged rocks and immense glaciers stand as testaments to nature's raw power, reminding you of the challenges that lie ahead. With each step, your determination grows, fueled by the knowledge that you're on the precipice of achieving something extraordinary.

This is an important day for acclimatization. You can enjoy a short hiking excursion to explore the surrounding area and see the spectacular views over the Kibo Ridge.
Day 5: As you reach higher altitudes, you become intimately acquainted with the thin air and the endurance required to conquer Kilimanjaro. Yet, the camaraderie of your fellow trekkers and the unwavering support of your experienced guides provide a constant source of inspiration. Surrounded by the ethereal beauty of the snow-capped peaks, you'll marvel at the indomitable spirit of human perseverance.

Day five is a long but gradual hike through the saddle area which is formed between the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. The air is dry and the route is barren, but once you arrive at the Kibo Hut, the area provides spectacular views over the plains. You will then be served a hot dinner, prepare your gear for the following day’s summit push, and get some much-needed rest.
Day 6: The summit bid awaits, and the air is charged with anticipation. In the darkness before dawn, you begin your final ascent, illuminated only by the stars above and your determination within. Step by step, you push the boundaries of your own limitations, embracing the euphoria that comes from conquering both the physical and mental challenges that Mt. Kilimanjaro presents.

Hiking time: 6-8 hrs to the summit then 6 hrs to Horombo Hut

Day 6 begins at midnight. You’ll be woken up with a hot cup of tea and a biscuit before you begin your ascent in the dark. Once we reach Hans Meyer Cave, you’ll be able to have a break and refuel with an energy bar. We’ll then continue zigzagging our way as the terrain steepens coming onto Gilman’s Point. Standing on this crater rim, you’ll take a short break, take on some sugar/electrolytes and rest a little before you cross the crater to Stella Point. Our porters will have arrived ahead and heated up some ginger tea for us to drink and warm our insides before the final push.
Day 7: At last, the moment you've tirelessly worked for arrives. As the first rays of sunlight paint the sky in a symphony of colors, you stand triumphantly at Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. With tears of joy streaming down your face, you realize that you have not only conquered a mountain but also unleashed a newfound strength within yourself.
