About this trip

7 Days in Oaxaca, México: Spanish Language Program for Adult Spanish Learners

This program is specifically designed with adult Spanish language learners in mind. Immerse yourself the culture, history, and language of Oaxaca, México. Travel with an experienced language teacher to support your Spanish immersion and coordinate the guided activities. This experience includes Spanish classes while in Oaxaca and language support throughout the trip. There are several group activities with fellow Spanish learners included, and there is also flexibility for alone time and to explore as you wish!

Oaxaca City is known for its cuisine, including several types of mole, the markets and street food, mezcal, art galleries, rich cultural heritage, colorful streets, and its Día de los Muertos celebrations.

Are you a teacher or an educator? Earn CEU hours and receive a certificate for program participation.

This program is born of a love for conscious travel, language learning, education, and investing in local communities. For these reasons, the group will stay at Hotel Con Corazón for the duration of the program. This hotel "invests most of its profits in education. Our Oaxaca program supports students from low-income families in and around Oaxaca city in their education path, in order to give them a head start at the labour market and break their families' poverty cycle." • Build connections with locals and fellow travelers
  • Explore Oaxaca's iconic sites and also have flexibility for casual exploration

Who should attend?

This program has been intentionally designed for language learners and those interested in cultural immersion, while allowing opportunity to discover both the must-see sites and the local spots. Who should book this program?

  • Adult Spanish learners who want to practice Spanish through international travel, but who may not able to participate in long-term study abroad programs or other types of extended stays.
  • Learners with varying proficiency levels are welcome. Trip language requirements:
    • Basic foundation and/or understanding of Spanish.
    • Willingness to practice your language skills before departure.
    • Dedication to using the language throughout the trip.
    • Able to attend any pre-departure classes and/or meetings.
  • Travelers seeking an adventure itinerary: we will be moving, walking, hiking, traveling, and also staying in the language as much as possible. This program can be both physically and mentally challenging. If you have any questions about itinerary accessibility, please reach out.
  • Teachers/educators can earn CEU hours and a program certificate.

Bilingual Program Leader

You will be accompanied by an experienced Spanish teacher throughout the program. Elizabeth has been teaching languages and traveling internationally since 2010. Her travels include personal, professional, private, and group programs. For more information on Elizabeth and her teaching and traveling experiences, visit www.clasesconelizabeth.com or the Instagram account @clasesconelizabeth

Language Focused

There are three Spanish classes included in the price: one 30-minute private Spanish Conversation Classes with your Program Leader before departure, and two Spanish classes during the program with local teachers. There will also be a required pre-departure meeting with other trip participants to meet virtually before traveling together.

The pre-departure conversation class is an opportunity to meet your Program Leader and practice your Spanish before travel. The classes while in Oaxaca are provided to enhance the immersion experience with an opportunity to ask vocabulary and grammar questions during the program. On-site classes also provide opportunity for cultural exchange and direct connection to the local people and language.

Language Immersion

Participants are encouraged to communicate in Spanish as much as possible with both the local people and fellow travelers. Language growth is a main focus of the program, and this is your opportunity to immerse yourself and give your Spanish skills a boost to the next level! Majority of tours included in the program are given primarily in Spanish (although there may be times when guides use English).

Support Local Education

The group will stay at Hotel Con Corazón, which "invests most of its profits in education. Our Oaxaca program supports students from low-income families in and around Oaxaca city in their education path, in order to give them a head start at the labour market and break their families' poverty cycle," as can be seen on their website. Clases Con Elizabeth
Hola, mi nombre es Elizabeth. :) I started Clases Con Elizabeth in 2020 to offer virtual Spanish classes for adults. In 2023, I began creating online resources to supplement learning and provide more opportunities for reading comprehension and vocabulary building. In 2024, I started offering Spanish immersion travel programs. I am excited to bring my love of Spanish and years of language teaching both to the virtual classroom and to in-person international travel experiences to help others speak and learn a new language.
