The 7 days Kilimanjaro climbing via Rongai route
One of the simpler routes to climb Mount Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border, is the Rongai Trail. Rongai has little traffic because it has become well known among climbers.
This is a fantastic option for a hike any time of year, but particularly during the wetter months of April and May. Rongai hikers can be drier and warmer than those on some of the other sides of the mountain because the majority of rainstorms tend to stay on the southern side of the mountain.
The 7 days Kilimanjaro climbing Summit success rate
The average success rate for the seven-day Rongai route across all Kilimanjaro operators is 65, to 80% for the six-day route. The reason for this low success rate is the route's poor acclimatization profile: it only offers one opportunity to climb high and sleep low. Days when you hike up to a new altitude and then descend to a lower altitude for the night are incredibly helpful for acclimatization.
The 7 days Kilimanjaro climbing Difficulties
There are few major obstacles to overcome along this trail and the final day before summit day is a short one, giving trekkers a chance to rest, recuperate, and prepare for their climb to the top of Uhuru Peak.
After breakfast, you will be driven from Moshi to the Rongai gate to obtain permits before proceeding to the trailhead for a brief transfer. A variety of fauna, including the black and white colobus monkey, call the forest home. The road winds through corn and potato farms before slowly ascending through it to the Simba camp for dinner and the night.
