We follow a simple way on compacted scree with broad perspectives that acquires elevation unrelentingly to arrive at Barafu Hut (14,800 ft) for lunch. There is a short acclimatization climb to the level at the lower part of the southeast valley (15,700 ft). The rest of the day is spent resting in anticipation of the early morning last climb. Begin our climb by torchlight at around 1 a.m. with the goal that we can be up on the hole edge by dawn.
