Walking time: 4 hours • Distance: about 6.7 km • Habitat: forest (mountain) 

We departed from Moshi town and drove 45 minutes. at the Marangu Park gate to check in. From there we went to Naro Moru, traveled another 68 km and took about 2.5 hours on a bad road to get to the starting point Rongai (1996 m). We started hiking from Nale Moru village. The little path winds its way through cornfields before entering a pine forest, after which we climb gently through a forest. The trail is not steep, more like a gentle hike through the beautiful countryside. Camp for the first night is at Simba camp (2626m). Camp facilities include public restrooms and wooden tables with benches, but no tents. Meal: B, L, D Location: Simba Hut 

Walking time: 6-7 hours • Distance: about 11.8 km • Habitat: heathland We walked from Simba camp to Kibo (3482m). We came for lunch at First Caves. The distance is 5.8 km. After lunch, we continued hiking until we reached Kikelewa camp at an altitude of about 3679m. Here you will have amazing views, including the water jet under the cave. Walking time: 3 hours • Distance: about 3.7 km • Habitat: heathland 

A short but steep hike up the grassy slopes offers great views of this wilderness. The vegetation ends just before reaching your next camp at Mawenzi Tarn located beneath the towering spiers of Mawenzi. Here we spent the afternoon moving around and exploring the area. Walking time: 5 hours • Distance: about 9 km • Habitat: alpine desert After breakfast, we headed west and continued up the east side of Kibo. Then we crossed the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo which took 4-5 hours to get to Kibo Hut. The rest of the day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent, which begins around midnight. Hiking time: 7 to 8 hours to Uhuru Peak | 6 to 8 hours to get off Horombo • Distance: about 5.4 km up and 15 km down • Habitat: rock screen / top of ice cap 

The total walking time for that day is about 14 hours, so be prepared for a very difficult day. You'll wake up around 11:20 p.m., and after a cup of tea and a cookie, we'll start the ascent. The first section of the trail is a rocky path leading to Hans Meyer Cave (5150m), which is also a good resting place. Then the road zigzags up to Gillman Point (5681m), which sits on the rim of the crater. This part is very steep with many levels, requiring great physical and mental effort. This is probably the most demanding section of the entire route. From Gillmans Point, you'll often encounter snow all the way to Uhuru Peak (5895m), the highest point in Africa! Weather conditions at the top will determine how much time you can spend taking pictures and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Then we started 3 hours down to Kibo Hut. After a short break at Kibo Hut, we gathered all our remaining gear and headed to Horombo Hut (3 hours) for your overnight stay. The return to Horombo Hut will be surprisingly quick compared to the climb. Then in the evening, you'll have your last dinner in the mountains and enjoy a well-deserved sleep. 

Walking time: 6 hours • Distance: about 19.7 km • Habitat: moors and mountain forests 

After breakfast, we continued down for about 6 hours past Mandara Hut to Marangu Gate. At the Marangu Gate, successful climbers receive their summit certificate. Climbers who have reached Gillman's Point (5685m) will receive a green certificate, and those who have reached Mount Uhuru (5895m) will receive a gold certificate.
