Come and join us at this seven days personal journey, transform your body and mind with yoga, dance, music, meditation & pranayama. Feel the vibrations of a gong bath & singing bowl concert through your body and let your chakras get balanced.


Our aim is to give you the space to relax and the tools to inspire, enhancing your connection to the world around you and the world within you, leading to greater health, well-being, and mindfulness. You will also have plenty of free time to contemplate, go walking or hiking, mountain biking, hanging out at the beach or simply relax and recharge your batteries. 


Enjoy the atmosphere of serenity and being in harmony with nature and take the opportunity to relax, restore and rejuvenate. The combination of idyllic and quiet surroundings, healthy nutrition and a balanced retreat program creates a healing and holistic experience for you.

TYPES OF YOGA

Vinyasa Yoga: a dynamique yoga style that combines movement with breath to flow from one pose to the next.

Aligned Flow Yoga: Iyengar inspired alignment combined with the sequencing of Vinyasa.

Yin Yoga: a slow-paced style of yoga with postures that are held for longer periods of time to calm the mind and stretch the body.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Carina Greweling lived in India and was trained in the traditional ashtanga vinyasa voga in Mysore and trained regularly at the world famous BKS Iyengar Institute in Mumbai. She trained at the Yoga Institute Mumbai, the oldest Yoga school in the world, as well. Her experience is therefore influenced by different styles of voga. In her retreats she teaches vinyasa yoga, aligned flow yoga and yin yoga. She studies Buddhist teachings and is a passionate ecstatic dance practitioner.
Besides working as a yoga teacher she is a naturopath and practises Chinese medicine and craniosacrale therapy in her practice in Paris. How the body and mind works and the different causes of diseases, fascinated her from early age. This knowledge influences her retreats and helps to create a holistic experience for you. 

RETREAT LOCATION

Karuna Retreat Center is located in the green mountains of Serra de Monchique in the Algarve. This region is known for its healing thermal water, medicinal plants, pure air and lush green landscapes. The quiet and remote retreat location offers a stunning view over Portugal's southern coast and the Atlantic Ocean. 

Karuna is amongst one of the most secluded and silent places in this area and is home to a variety of local flora and fauna. The Retreat Center’s property is isolated and perfect for those in search of silence, seclusion and peace.

We prepare 3 vegetarian meals a day, a mixture of Indian and Portuguese cuisine. We can also prepare vegan meals for those who request it in advance. We only use local products and whenever it is possible we try to use fresh products from our vegetable garden. Gluten and lactose-free options available.

The fee is 90% refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 60 days before the arrival date.
