Each climber is allowed one duffel bag weighing 10–14 kg, which will be carried by porters during the trek. You should also bring a daypack (with a waterproof cover) for essentials like cash, documents, water, camera, snacks, toiletries, sunscreen, and extra clothing.
Any additional luggage not needed on the trek can be safely stored at your hotel in Arusha or Moshi

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be welcomed by a representative from Hike Kilimanjaro and transferred to Planet Lodge Arusha or similar midrange accommodation. After checking in, relax in the beautiful gardens or by the swimming pool before attending a detailed evening briefing with your lead mountain guide. During the briefing, your guide will inspect your climbing equipment, explain the itinerary, review safety procedures, and answer any questions before your adventure begins.

After an early breakfast, drive approximately two hours to Machame Gate where registration is completed.
Begin your trek through the lush rainforest, home to giant trees, colorful birds, blue monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. The trail gradually climbs through dense vegetation before reaching Machame Camp.
Your tents will already be prepared by your mountain crew while the cook prepares a hot dinner.

Distance: 5 km (3 miles)
Hiking Time: 4–6 hours
Habitat: Moorland
Leave the rainforest behind as the landscape changes into heath and moorland.
Today's hike offers magnificent views of Kibo Peak and the Shira Plateau. Giant lobelias and senecio plants begin to appear as you continue climbing toward Shira Camp.
Spend the afternoon relaxing and taking a short acclimatization walk.

Elevation: 3,840 m to 4,630 m then descend to 3,960 m
Distance: 10 km (6.2 miles)
Hiking Time: 6–8 hours
Habitat: Semi-desert
Today is one of the most important acclimatization days.
Following the "climb high, sleep low" principle, you'll ascend to Lava Tower (4,630 m), where lunch is served before descending into the beautiful Barranco Valley.
The descent helps your body adapt to the altitude while rewarding you with spectacular scenery.

Distance: 5 km (3.1 miles)
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
After breakfast, tackle the famous Barranco Wall, one of the highlights of the Machame Route.
Although it appears steep, it is a non-technical climb assisted by your guides. Once at the top, enjoy breathtaking views before continuing across valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp.
Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the higher altitude ahead.

Elevation: 4,035 m to 4,640 m
Distance: 4 km (2.5 miles)
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
Today's hike is relatively short as you make your way to Barafu Camp, the starting point for your summit attempt.
After lunch, organize your summit gear, hydrate well, enjoy an early dinner, and rest before waking around midnight.
Your guides will conduct a final safety briefing before the summit climb.

Distance: 17 km (10.6 miles)
Hiking Time: 11–14 hours
Habitat: Arctic & Rainforest
Around midnight, begin your ascent toward the Roof of Africa.
Reach Stella Point before continuing to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa.
Celebrate your incredible achievement, take unforgettable photographs, and watch the sunrise over Tanzania.
Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.
