7 days Uganda wildlife safari is a combined wildlife expedition that takes you to Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk, head to Queen Elizabeth National Park to explore the pleasant savannah and a thrilling boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, a waterway that separates Lake Edward and Lake George.

7 DAYS ITINERARY

  

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park.

The company driver will pick you up and set off on the journey to western region of Uganda to Kibale National Park, the journey covers a distance of 308 kilometres, approximately 4 hours’ drive from Kampala to the park.

Have a stopover at the equator in Kayabwe along Masaka road for an opportunity to explore the world’s main latitude that divides the world into different hemispheres, the Southern and Northern hemisphere.

Have lunch enroute at Igongo cultural centre and then proceed with your journey to the park, arrive in the evening check into the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Community / Swamp Walk.

After a yummy morning cup of coffee, head off to the park head offices for a short briefing about the chimp trekking rules and regulations, hike into the thick tropical forest of Kibale to start trekking these apes.

This activity lasts for 2-8 hours including the 1 hour spent with these beautiful primates as you enjoy their living day to day activities, after this activity return to the lodge for refreshment and lunch.

In the evening, go for a swamp walk through Bigodi wetland Sanctuary and have a chance to see various bird species like; papyrus, waxbills, kingfisher, hornbills, cuckoos and much more Gonolek. Also spot out numerous mammal species like; mongooses, bush pigs, antelopes, otters, semi-aquatic to mention but a few. Then return to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Crater lakes tour and top of the world experience. 

After an early morning breakfast, embark on the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the journey covers a distance of 103 kilometres and you will approximately spend 2 hours driving to Queen Elizabeth National Park, reach the park check into the lodge for refreshment and lunch.

Along the way from the lodge, you will explore a few crater lakes around Fortportal including Ndali, Kasenda, Nyinabulitwa and hike to top of the world view point to explore over 30 crater lakes in this area.

Day 4: Game drive in Kasenyi Sector and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel.

After morning breakfast, go for an early morning game drive through Kasenyi pains to see early morning nocturnal before they go back to their hideouts, this activity lasts for 2-3 hours and gives you an opportunity to spot some of the big cats like; lions and leopards and various wild animals such as hyenas, warthogs, Elephants and much more. Return to the lodge for refreshment and lunch.

After lunch in the afternoon, go for a 2-hour afternoon thrilling boat cruise along the Kazinga channel that connects the two fresh water bodies – Lake George and Lake Edward. During this boat cruise, you will have an opportunity to see crocodiles, hippos and other wild animals like Elephants, buffaloes and much more as you spot them along the banks of the lake. Retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and view Tree Climbing lions in Ishasha sector.

Early in the morning following your cup of coffee, you will head off to Bwindi impenetrable National Park through Ishasha sector and have a chance to see tree climbing lions as well as other animals including baboons, leopards, warthogs, Kobs and birds like, stork, compact weaver, herons and so many others. Reach the park and check into the lodge for refreshment dinner and overnight stay.

Budget: Broadbill Forest Camp (ensuite tents)

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Cultural Experience.

Wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast and set off to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking and you will be divided into groups. Start your gorilla trekking activity with the guidance of the ranger guide by hiking into the forest to start looking for the beautiful primates, the activity will take 2-8 hours depending on the movement and location of the gorilla family including the 1 hour spent with them.

Upon reaching these unique and unfamiliar apes, you are requested to keep a distance of 1 meter and to switch off your flash light in case you are interested in taking pictures with them for memories.

Enjoy how they feed with young ones and how they cooperated with each other. After the one hour, descend to the park headquarters and return to the lodge for refreshment and relaxation.

In the evening, you will go for a cultural experience, as you hike into the forest and learn how the Batwa pygmies used to live and how the used the forest flora for medicine, be entertained by their cultural songs and legends.

Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala.

On the last day of this tour, start with a cup of tea early in the morning, check out the lodge and embark on your journey back to Kampala, you will have an enroute stop at Kayabwe equator to take some pictures for memories and also purchase African handcrafts if interested. Proceed with your journey to Kampala for your departure.
