This tour involve walking, sightseeing and full days of activities. A reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required, and guests should be comfortable walking at a steady pace with the group, including on uneven terrain such as trails and natural paths.

The order of activities and sightseeing may change due to weather, operational requirements or other unforeseen circumstances. However, all inclusions outlined in the itinerary will be provided wherever possible.

Begin your Tasmanian adventure by settling into the welcoming embrace of your elegant hotel. Prepare to meet your new friends and guides over welcome drinks followed by a delightful vegan dinner with views over Hobart’s harbour. This evening sets the scene for days filled with natural beauty and unique experiences.

The Henry Jones Art Hotel: At the 5-star Henry Jones Art Hotel history and art collide. Located in the Hunter Street precinct, Hobart’s oldest waterfront warehouses have been thoughtfully reimagined as Australia’s first dedicated art hotel. Through the rise and fall of industries, including Sir Henry Jones’ IXL jam empire, the harbourside location has been central to Hobart and its people. Today, the precinct hums with galleries, award-winning restaurants, bars and cafes.

 

With over 500 artworks on display throughout the hotel, each turn of a corner is a creative delight. Your stay at The Henry Jones Art Hotel promises to be a memorable one where every detail is carefully curated to delight and inspire.

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel. The morning unfolds with a traditional Aboriginal "Welcome to Country" ceremony, a profoundly moving introduction to the land's heritage. Following this, engage in an Indigenous talk and partake in the Kipli Takawa Aboriginal bush food tour, savouring a vegan meal inspired by local bush flavours—an extraordinary culinary treat. Vital to the culture, "Palawa Kipli" means "Tasmanian indigenous food", and the business proudly celebrates traditional food practices, fostering cultural revival and supporting the Tasmanian Aboriginal community through impactful engagement.

Returning to Hobart, enjoy a visit to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, home to a fascinating collection of exhibits showcasing Tasmania’s natural and cultural history, including a dedicated Aboriginal gallery that deepens your understanding of the day’s themes.

In the afternoon, enjoy a Private Premium Tour at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, a working sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating native animals. Begin with a complimentary drink and hear the inspiring story behind Bonorong’s mission before meeting resident quolls, wombats, wallabies, Tasmanian devils, echidnas and more. As day turns to night, watch the sanctuary come alive with nocturnal activity and conclude this special visit with a vegan dinner under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the nocturnal animals going about their business.

Arts, River Cruise, Culture and Cuisine!

After breakfast, we’ll begin the day with a cruise along the Derwent River to Mona , Tasmania’s iconic Museum of Old and New Art. Situated on the Berriedale peninsula, Mona is world-renowned for its daring and thought-provoking exhibitions, all housed in a stunning subterranean labyrinth of tunnels, staircases and dramatic gallery spaces. After exploring, we’ll enjoy a lunch on the lawn with a live music performance.

In the afternoon, we’ll venture to Tunnel Hill Mushroom Farm for a fascinating guided tour. This unique farm grows rare and gourmet mushrooms inside a historic railway tunnel. Learn how these fungi are cultivated and harvested, and discover why Tasmania’s mushroom scene is gaining such gourmet acclaim.

As evening falls, we’ll gather under the stars for a special mushroom-themed dinner — a true celebration of Tasmania’s finest fungi. Expect a creative, multi-course feast that transforms humble mushrooms into an unforgettable gourmet experience.

A day full of colour!

Staying in Hobart for a slower paced day, we'll start the day at the vibrant Salamanca Market. Every Saturday, Salamanca Place transforms into a lively hub of creativity and community spirit. With over 300 stallholders, the market brims with locally made treasures, fresh produce, artisanal crafts and delicious bites — an unmissable Tasmanian experience full of colour and charm. We’ll provide you with a guide to the vegan highlights so you can sample your way through the stalls and find your own lunch and unique, locally make souvenirs.

This afternoon we visit the renowned Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, where you’ll have time to explore at your own pace. Wander through fascinating exhibitions showcasing Tasmania’s natural history, Indigenous culture, colonial past and contemporary art. From captivating wildlife displays to thought-provoking artworks and historic artefacts, the museum offers a rich insight into the island’s unique stories and heritage.

Day Five

Visit to Port Arthur Historic Site

After a satisfying breakfast, we bid farewell to our accommodations and set off on a scenic journey to the spectacular Tasman Peninsula. Our destination today is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site, one of Australia’s most significant historic sites.

Set against a backdrop of tranquil waters and rolling green hills, Port Arthur offers a fascinating glimpse into Australia’s convict past. Spend the day exploring the beautifully preserved grounds, wandering among evocative sandstone ruins, and discovering the powerful stories of those who lived and worked here nearly two centuries ago. Your visit also includes a harbour cruise, offering a unique perspective of the site from the water and views across the peaceful bay.

After a full and fascinating day of exploration, we return to our accommodation where you’ll have time to relax and unwind before dinner.

Day Six

Hands-on workshop and mountain visit

After breakfast, we begin the day with a hands-on culinary experience celebrating one of the staples of plant-based cuisine. During a relaxed and engaging cooking workshop, you’ll learn the art of crafting your own tofu or tempeh from scratch. Guided step-by-step through the process, you’ll discover the traditional techniques behind these protein-rich foods and gain tips you can easily recreate at home. The best part comes next—sitting down together to enjoy a delicious lunch featuring the tofu and tempeh you’ve just made.

In the afternoon we head towards the majestic kunanyi / Mount Wellington, the mountain that rises dramatically behind Hobart and holds a special place in the hearts of locals. We make our way to the summit, where sweeping panoramic views stretch across the city, the Derwent River and the surrounding wilderness.

From here we take a hike through native alpine bush, breathing in the crisp mountain air and keep an eye out for native wildlife. It’s a peaceful way to experience Tasmania’s natural beauty and a perfect contrast to the morning’s culinary creativity.

We return to the city in the evening, where dinner awaits at a local restaurant.

Day Seven

Mount Field National Park excursion

Today we’re off to Mount Field National Park, one of Tasmania’s oldest and most beloved national parks. Here, you’ll discover lush temperate rainforest, towering tree ferns, and the stunning, three-tiered Russell Falls — one of Tasmania’s most photographed natural wonders. We’ll explore the renowned Three Falls Walk, a beautiful circuit that takes in Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Lady Barron Falls. There are options for shorter or longer walks, so you can choose the pace and distance that suits you best — all while soaking up the park’s magical forests and cascading streams.

We'll have a picnic lunch at Mt Field before heading back to Hobart

Back at your hotel, there’s time for a rest before we gather for a memorable farewell dinner at Aloft, perched on the top floor of the award-winning Brooke Street Pier. Indulge in a tasting menu that celebrates Tasmania’s finest seasonal produce while soaking up the sparkling views of Hobart’s harbour — the perfect finale to your Tasmanian adventure.
