Your safari begins in Arusha, where you’ll travel to Tarangire National Park for your first safari experience. Here, ancient baobab trees, open landscapes, and large elephant herds create a memorable introduction to northern Tanzania, with game drives offering opportunities to encounter elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and many other species.

From Tarangire, continue to Lake Manyara National Park, where the landscape changes dramatically from open woodland to forest and lakeshore environments. Spend time exploring the park on game drives, with opportunities to encounter elephants, buffalo, giraffes, baboons, abundant birdlife, and the unique landscapes surrounding Lake Manyara.

From Lake Manyara, continue into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, where the dramatic volcanic caldera provides a unique setting for exceptional wildlife viewing.

Welcome to Tanzania. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your TourwithPipi representative and transferred to Kahawa House in Arusha, where you can settle in and relax after your journey.

The remainder of the day is at leisure, giving you time to rest and ease into your first evening in Tanzania. With the foothills of Mount Meru and the green surroundings of Arusha nearby, this is a gentle introduction to the safari and island journey ahead.

After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, travelling by road into a landscape known for its ancient baobabs, open savannahs, and large elephant herds. As you enter the park, the scenery gradually changes from the cultivated landscapes around Arusha to the open woodland and grasslands of Tarangire.

Spend the day on a game drive through Tarangire, exploring at a relaxed pace with opportunities to encounter elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, and other wildlife. Pause for a picnic lunch before continuing into the afternoon as the light begins to soften across the park, then make your way to Tarangire Treetops for dinner and a quiet evening surrounded by the wilderness.
