About your trip

Lessinia is a mountainous area North of Verona, part of the pre-Alps, and it is still an off-the-beaten-tracks destination, despite of its beautiful landscaped made of green meadows, shady forests, stone-made rural houses and large views that range from the Dolomites to the Apennines. These mountains are crossed by old military gravel roads, a paradise for gravel bike lovers, as much as the hills that surround Verona, covered with neat rows of vineyards and olive groves.

Road surface

You will ride on secondary roads with little or no local traffic and on some short stretches of roads open to traffic. The road surface is approximately 35% gravel, with the rest being concrete, mixed surfaces and asphalt. The route includes climbs (averaging no more than 7%, with a few short, intense exceptions). A good level of fitness is recommended.

DAY 2

DAY 2 image

Verona > Camposilvano / 40 km, +1350 mt

The first cycling day is the shortest of the trip but it is also the toughest in therms of positive elevation. The itinerary gradually goes up the hills on gravel paths surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. As the altitude increases, the landscape changes, the crops give way to meadows, where cows graze freely, and forests. The route finally gets to the area of Camposilvano, a tiny hamlet made of stone-made houses where it is possible to breath the fresh air of the mountains.

Overnight in Camposilvano.

DAY 3

DAY 3 image

Alta Lessinia loop ride / 47 km, +1100 mt

This itinerary explores the highest side of the Lessinia plateau, following old military gravel roads: cycling uphill can be tough, but once on the top of this plateau, the path gets much flatter, with great rewards given by the landscapes, always stunning, and a deep immersion in the nature and the peaceful atmosphere of the high mountains. The route passes by some mountain huts where it is possible to enjoy some great mountain-style food, simple but energetic.

Overnight in Camposilvano.

DAY 4

DAY 4 image

Camposilvano > Verona / 68 km, +550 mt

The way back to Verona starts with an exciting downhill section towards the eastern valleys of the province. The itinerary explores the hills where the wines Soave and Valpolicella are produced, and after a few up-and-downs it passes by a beautiful area crossed by clear water creeks, and finally gets back to Verona following the course of river Adige.

Overnight in Verona.
