About this trip

Join Dena Borman & Natalia Tabilo for a retreat truly created for ALL!

All ages! All levels! All bodies welcome! Accessible and inclusive yoga with props, relaxation, sun and fun.  All while fostering meaningful connections and community!

Enjoy four nights and five days of Pacific Ocean views at Playa Viva--a beautiful, environmentally-conscious, private property situated on one mile of pristine beachfront, surrounded by lush green palms.

Our vision is to offer a yoga retreat that is truly inclusive of all people. Many retreats in the Yoga World say that they are inclusive--that you can come as you are, that classes are beginner-friendly, that everybody is welcome, etc.  But truly, they aren't. That's why we are inspired (and excited!) to create a Yoga, Asana, and Movement retreat that is truly accessible to all bodies.  We share the vision of offering a retreat for those who might think a yoga retreat is not for them.

About Your Hosts

Dena Borman (she/her) is passionate about teaching yoga in a way that makes the practice feel more sustainable and accessible to ALL.  She specializes in teaching yoga to beginners, seniors, and those with physical limitations, disabilities, or chronic illnesses.  In Dena's classes, you can expect lots of options for exploration, variation and adaptation, no matter where you are along your "yoga journey." She provides clear and thoughtful instruction paired with invitational cueing, so that you know you're always welcome to explore what feels best for you as an individual--we are not "one size fits all" beings, after all!

Dena received her 200 hour certification at Wild Lotus Yoga in New Orleans in 2016, under the guidance of Sean Johnson and Mitchel Bleier. As a full time yoga teacher, continuing to practice, learn and develop is very important to her. She has completed several hours of training in the Bowspring Method, and she is currently studying yoga philosophy with Prasad Rangnekar and yoga anatomy/movement science with Jenni Rawlings.  You can learn more about Dena through her Instagram account, @yogawithdena and www.denaborman.com.

Natalia Tabilo (she/her/ella) is a Chilean yoga teacher (500 RYT), journalist, and the founder of Yoga for All Bodies™.  After feeling left out and unseen in yoga spaces, she decided to create Yoga for All Bodies™, an inclusive, welcoming, and accessible practice based on yoga variations (not modifications) and freedom to invite students of all bodies to enjoy their body and mind where they are right now, all while taking their power back.

To fulfill the promise of sharing Yoga for All Bodies she has trained in Accessible Yoga, Yoga for All, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Yoga for Mental Health, Somatics, Prenatal, Postnatal, Restorative, Yoga for Seniors, Yoga for Chronic Pain and more. In 2021 Natalia was featured as a “Game Changer” in Yoga by Yoga Journal.  You can know more about Natalia in her Instagram account, @YogaforAllbodies and www.yogaforallbodies.com.

About Playa Viva

"Where Your Vacation Meets Your Values"

Playa viva is a sustainable, eco-luxury, boutique hotel with a focus on positive social and environmental impact for the local ecosystem. At Playa Viva, you are immersed in the luxury of the natural landscape, nestled between the sparkling waters of the Pacific Ocean and the majestic Sierra Madre Mountains rising in the distance.

In 2010, Playa Viva founded La Tortuga Viva (LTV) to protect endangered turtles from predators, poachers, and habitat degradation. LTV is staffed by an all-volunteer team comprised of members of the local community of Juluchuca. Playa Viva supports the sanctuary by helping to raise funds for needed equipment. During the retreat, we may be invited to join a night patrol with volunteers from LTV as well as assist with the release of the baby turtles to the ocean in the morning.

Other Considerations and FAQs

This retreat is for you if...

...you've ever felt as if you'd love to attend a yoga retreat, but were concerned about feeling welcome or being able to "keep up."  Our vision is to host a retreat that is truly welcoming for all people.

...you are new to yoga!  We will teach classes that accommodate all levels, including beginners.

...sustainability, regenerative practices and supporting the local economy are important considerations for you when booking a vacation.

This retreat might not be for you if:

...you are only interested in athletic or fast-paced asana.  We plan to take our time with instruction and offer lots of options for variation, adaptation and exploration in order to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and included!

...you are sensitive about certain aspects of living among nature. Playa Viva's rooms are open-concept, which means they are designed to be breezy, but do not offer AC and can not be guaranteed to be 100% critter-free!

Other Considerations:

This retreat is for all ages 18 and older.

There are some direct flights to ZIH, but not tons.  You may want to plan extra time for travel, and you might consider flying to Mexico City before flying to ZIH.
