About this trip

Are you looking to experience more shamanic practices and wisdom into your life?  How about incorporating it into your yogic and meditation teachings and practices? Then please consider joining us on this transformational Soul Journey to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.

Few places in the world are more conducive to bring presence, awe and wonder like Lake Atitlan.  We auspiciously timed it so that the retreat leads up to the Winter Solstice, a time where Yogic and Mayan traditions consider to be the most potent times of the year for ceremony and spiritual practices.

Is this Soul Journey for You?

Over this week, you will be exposed to a living indigenous and shamanic culture that dates back over 4,000 years.   You will experience fire and cacao ceremonies from Mayan shamans trained in age old lineages.  In addition, we will be sharing mantra chanting, Kundalini Yoga, and our own version of a cacao ceremony.  We will also share ways in which you can integrate the ancient with the modern, the shamanic with the yogic.

This retreat with help deepen your love and practice of chanting, bhakti, kundalini yoga, and ceremony in a majestic and elevating environment.  We will sing and dance our hearts open, rejuvenate, relax, and explore yoga as a practice of embodying spirit in a heart opening and devotional way.  Through daily meditation and chanting you will refine your perspective of these practices and yourself.

The retreat is open to all people and of all levels of yoga and kirtan experience.  Each participant will practice according to their individual needs guided by Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda. Loving care, attention and support for your experience will always be available.  This retreat is truly a gift to yourself!

This will be our second time returning after an absolutely phenomenal first retreat in 2016.  Please check out this video that was made from this same retreat two years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWJoykxa75E&feature=youtu.be

What people said about the retreat three years ago:

It's hard to find the right words to describe the experience I had with Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda at their retreat in Guatemala, but I'll take a stab at it: "amazing," "divine," and "blissful" come to mind. Nestled upon the shores of beautiful Lake Atitlan, the setting was like paradise, and in addition to our daily yoga practice, we were treated to delicious, organic, locally-produced vegetarian/vegan meals, daily excursions to explore the nearby places of interest, music, storytelling, a cacao ceremony, did I leave anything out? We all bonded as a group and formed lasting friendships in a way that is truly rare. Can't recommend this adventure highly enough!  -Bob MacColl ~Long Beach, CA

"I’m so grateful for the time I’ve spent on retreat with Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda. These experiences have profoundly impacted my journey – deepening my connection with sacred sound, mantra, and yoga, as well as the land and local culture. I felt nourished and held in a space where it was easy to relax, practice living a healthy and intentional lifestyle, and simply enjoy the beauty of my surroundings and the connections that were forming – some of which have turned into life-long friendships!" Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda Yogiji are a dynamic duo that have specialized in offering mantra and English heart songs, Kundalini and Sattva Yoga, Ecstatic Dance (Kirtronica) and cacao ceremony. They have released 16 albums since 2011 and are favorites in the mantra music genre. They are also well loved for their uplifting, heart centered, and transformative yoga classes. Their retreats incorporate not only their incredible offerings but also cultural adventures as well. Join these two for heart opening magic!

Jaya Lakshmi is a sweet soul with a beautiful voice and a loving heart. We were really blessed to share so much time with her!! The Whale Spirit Sanctuary has the best view of the bay where we snorkeled every day on a variety of beaches, swimming with dolphins!! Food fantastic abundance well flavored almost totally vegan and organic. Yoga classes with lots of pranayama, and going at my own pace without criticism. The downside for me were the insects, millipedes in particular, that crawled all over our floor and could not be avoided. I had a wonderful time anyway, but I felt obligated to warn people ahead of time of the creepy millipedes. Join Jaya Lakshmi for a heartwarming vacation!!!

Thank you Lakshmi and Ananda for the incredible journey in Sedona. All of our expectations were exceeded! Starting with the morning yoga/breath work to the delicious meals made with love from Victoria to our sunsets hikes with beautiful music. It was a pleasure getting to know everyone and look forward to meeting again. Thank you Lakshmi and Ananda!

This retreat was transformational and I'm so grateful to Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda Yogiji. Their Sattva Yoga Practices took me to new places. The food was amazing (I'm vegan and there were so many filling options). The music on the gorgeous rocks overlooking Sedona was a time of real bonding amongst participants and even walks to the watering holes filled us with laughter and joy. I'll look forward to the next gathering with them and the wonderful people they attract.

Our 5 day retreat in Sedona, AZ with Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda Yogiji was truly amazing. Kundalini yoga in the morning opened my eyes to the power of breathwork to help me shed layers of my old stories and get closer to my soul. The food was amazing, plant based and full of goodness and was prepared with love. During this summer retreat, we went to delightful swimming holes in Oak Creek during the hot part of the day, and hiked on the Sedona cliffs in the evening. Once we got to our hiking destination, Lakshmi and Ananda led kirtans and sang heartfelt songs as the sun set. It felt truly sublime to join in song in that magnificent red rock setting. We also had a powerful cacao ceremony on the Solstice. The other guests were like minded seekers and it was a delight to get to know them. Oh, and the serene, beautiful and comfortable accommodations made for a very pleasant stay. I would heartily encourage anyone who loves yoga, hiking, great people and good food to join Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda on a Soul Journey.

A beautiful musical and magical spiritual journey we will remember for a lifetime. Perfect balance of kundalini, music & chants, ceremonies, great vegetarian food, new friends, and exciting adventures. During our whale excursion, we summoned these wonderful great beings with music and drumming. On our first swim, a Momma and baby whale approached us and came eye to eye with us, then offered a high 5 with its fin before cruising back into the wild deep blue from whence they came. Wahe Guru! Lakshmi and Ananda led us to this magical experience. They are great musicians, teachers, guides, and just wonderful people we feel grateful to have gotten to know and become friends with. Hence we are headed to the Guatemala retreat and look forward to another magical journey. Sat Nam, Fez & Kellye

We thoroughly enjoyed our retreat in Hawaii with Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda. So much so that we are doing it again! The intimate chanting every evening was a dream come true. The whale excursions were an amazing experience that we will never forget! Waking up with kundalini yoga and the accompanying live music was fantastic. The cacao ceremony was a deeply enriching experience. Our whole family was made to feel very welcome and we created friendships that will last a lifetime. The kirtronica on the last evening was an absolutely blast, heart opening and uplifting! Looking forward to more adventures and much love to Jaya Lakshmi and Amanda. Wahe Guru!
