Enjoy your morning guided visit of the Louvre, the largest museum on earth! The Louvre was originally constructed in 1200 as a fortress.  In the 17th century, it served as Louis XIII’s palace. After the French revolution, the Louvre was opened as a museum and its fabulous collection was rightfully made accessible to the public. Among the priceless art treasures to see are the beautifully proportioned Venus de Milo, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and the Winged Victory of Samothrace. After breakfast, say goodbye to Paris and travel to the Palace of Versailles, home of Louis XIV, the Sun King. See the magnificent Hall of Mirrors and imagine it filled with silk gowns and powdered wigs, lit by thousands of candles. The mirrors, a luxurious rarity at the time, were a reflection of a time when aristocrats felt good about their looks and their fortunes. In another age altogether, this was the room in which the Treaty of Versailles was signed, ending World War I. Stroll through the fabulous formal gardens and marvel at the splendor in which royalty lived. Continue to the Normandy Area. B, D

This morning take the ferry to Portsmouth. Continue to London. Using your 2-Day Tube pass transfer to the Tower of London, a historic castle off the north bank of the River Thames. Visit this majestic piece of history that was founded during the Norman Conquest of England in 1066 and was finished by William the Conqueror in 1078. See the famous Yeoman Warders, also known as the Beefeaters, who faithfully guard the tower. B, D

Visit the renowned Westminster Abbey, site of numerous royal weddings and coronations. See Poets’ Corner with its monuments to Chaucer, Dickens, Longfellow, Hardy and other literary notables. Next, experience The Churchill War Rooms, the museum comprises the Cabinet War Rooms, a historic underground complex that housed a British government command centre throughout the Second World War, and the Churchill Museum, a biographical museum exploring the life of British statesman Winston Churchill.  B, D 

Experience a journey to Warwick Castle, a medieval castle developed from a wooden fort, built by William the Conqueror in 1068.
