Dear Mwasi Global Community, Supporters, and Friends,
Black American people put 109 billion dollars in the travel market in 2019 and spend an average of $2078 on the ground as we travel. However, we only own 2% of hotels in the global market. MWASI wants to increase that number, and we have, WE OWN THE MWASI HEALING AND RESTORATION CENTER. Now we are entering Phase 2 of our capital raise with a $2500 investment offer that comes with a 6 night/7 day stay at Mwasi!
Five years ago, we began building Mwasi with a simple but radical belief—that Black people deserve safe, beautiful, culturally grounded spaces to rest, reconnect, create, heal, learn, and build across the Diaspora. Today, Mwasi has grown into a living ecosystem of mental wellness, artistic expression, cultural exchange, and global possibility. And we are just getting started.
The next phase of expansion, is our residency tents and our multi-use yoga pagoda, allowing us to host Black Therapists, Healers, our resident elder, and leaders and thinkers.
To sustain this work and prepare for the future, we are launching a focused capital campaign:
We are raising 500K.
This campaign will allow us to secure some much needed working capital, projects around the property and begin immediate construction on six residential tents and one yoga and wellness pagoda. These sacred spaces will house and support the heart of our mission—our residency programs, educational initiatives, and intergenerational healing work:
✅ The Black Therapist in Residence Program
A monthly mental health residency where Black therapists live onsite, serve our retreats, lead workshops, and provide culturally competent care rooted in our collective experience. This program ensures that emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being remain central—not optional—in Black travel and community building.
✅ The Taksu Artist Residency
An intimate, month-long creative incubator that coincides with the 1-54 Art Fair, welcoming artists, musicians, digital creators, writers, and cultural thinkers from across the Diaspora. Through collaboration, mentorship, exhibitions, workshops, and cultural immersion, Taksu positions Mwasi and Marrakesh as a global hub for Black artistic innovation.
✅ Young Black & Global Study Abroad + Internship Program (College Level)
A four-week academic and professional immersion where students explore alternative community building, social entrepreneurship, business development, arts, wellness, tourism, and cultural preservation—while actively shaping Mwasi’s future through research, program design, and hands-on work.
✅ Young Black & Global Summer Camp (Ages 10–17)
A life-changing month for Black youth to explore Morocco, build cross-cultural friendships, travel the Sahara, learn history, discover identity, and experience the world as theirs—not something they must ask permission to enter.
✅ Global Work, Exchange & Professional Pathways
Creating real opportunities for Black people to live, teach, work, heal, and contribute around the world—expanding our understanding of what is possible for ourselves and for our communities.
---
These residency tents and the yoga pagoda are not simply structures—they are extensions of purpose. They will allow us to host more therapists, elders, artists, students, families, educators, innovators, wellness leaders, and cultural architects who will leave Mwasi and carry this work into the world.
