Johnny Caldwell and Taneka Reaves are the dynamic duo known around the globe as the curly-haired Cocktail Bandits. The full-time Charleston Ambassadors met as Freshmen at the College of Charleston. Now, as the Cocktail Bandits, they promote feminine empowerment through advocacy for the food and beverage community from a feminine, urban perspective. 

The curly ladies who talk cocktails daily, educate and entertain their growing blog audience by sharing original cocktail recipes, promoting the craftsmanship of other bar professionals and sharing their experiences at foodie events all around the Holy City and beyond. 

We will explore the history of The Lowcountry through guided tours led by experts on Black heritage. We will top off the day with a meal and fireside chat with Chef BJ Dennis!

Featured on Netflix's High on The Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America, Chef BJ Dennis was born and raised in Charleston, SC and infuses the flavors of the Lowcounty into his Gullah Geechee cuisine. 

Charleston is known for its cuisine. This cuisine was built on the shoulders of the many enslaved and freed cooks, spanning periods from the 1700s into the 1900s. Chef Kevin Mitchell will take travelers on an educational and culinary journey honoring the legacy of these Cooks.

Travelers will enjoy Passed Hors D’oeuvres, Specialty Cocktails, Bubbles, Four Course Plated Dinner w/Wine Pairings and an Interactive Educational experience- all held in a beautiful historic Downtown Charleston Venue.

Amanda and Megan hail from Georgia and the Carolinas and their menu items are inspired from their grandmother's kitchens. Enjoy a cooking demonstration of some traditional breakfast items including ho' cakes, fresh-made sausage and more! 

Enjoy a catered Lowcountry breakfast and then relax at the beach, explore downtown, take trip to the nearby outlets or visit the majestic Angel Oak Tree. 

Experience the best of low-country cuisine, history and dialogue.  The weekend will culminate with a lesson on sweetgrass basket weaving Gullah Sweetgrass Baskets. Gullah Sweetgrass Baskets was founded by Charleston-based Andrea Cayetano-Jefferson. She proudly represents the rich Gullah culture through her peerless creations as a sixth generation sweetgrass basket artist. As child she studied the intricacies of basket sewing from her mother and aunt whom she attributes her commitment to continuing the traditional art form honoring her Gullah ancestors and history.
