About this trip

You're invited for a weekend in the "Lowcountry." Explore Charleston, South Carolina and surrounding areas. Join me for a custom-curated experience where food, history and culture collide. Star of the Netflix documentary "High on The Hog," Chef BJ Dennis, will be our special guest!

The heart of this trip is to explore the history of Charleston, Geechee people and their impact on what we know to be African American culture -especially the food! If you don't love food, you're out of luck. For Black people,  the history of Charleston is somber, but the light and resiliency of Black people is always a cause for celebration and a reminder of our legacy!

This trip was amazing!!! We were completely immersed into the Gullah culture by way of culinary experiences and historical tours. All of the chefs prepared food for the soul!! With every meal I felt a deeper connection and understanding of the rich Gullah culture. The history tours shed more light on the enslaved and what their life was really like. I returned home full ..... literally and figuratively. I would HIGHLY recommend... A Weekend in the Low Country coordinated by Tiffany Rivers.
