A Woodstock Summer Emergence.
Woodstock is known for the 1969 Concert that came to symbolize the political and social climate of the United States. It was a playground of expression for almost half a million people - although not the most smoothly run event it was symbol of counter-culture, of expression, of freedom and of community. A bunch of strangers getting together to create something bigger than themselves. A magical moment in history. An Emergence.
Emergence refers to the existence or formation of collective behaviors — what parts of a system do together that they would not do alone. Another definition of emergence is the fact of someone or something coming to the end of a difficult period or experience. To emerge is to come to light, to rise, to be known.
The moment for Emergence has come again. Between war, unrest and conflict, the time to connect, to move, to play, to grow and to be together is here.
Paige Elenson, founder of Africa Yoga Project, is hosting several four day intimate gatherings to create our own counter-culture. We are going to put all of our attention on our personal and collective growth of what we want to have happen, play and relax.
Each gathering will have a distinct focus and be sourced from some of the most revolutionary leaders and healers around today. Teachings that have personally supported Paige through her healing from a tumultuous and traumatic two year journey. Each gathering will be unique, but one aspect will be consistent- the spirit of a Woodstock Emergence.
There is something very special about a summer in Woodstock, and whatever you are searching for, you are likely to find it right here, with us.
As yoga teachers, we are emerging. Our teaching exists in relationship to others, in simple words, our source of power arises in relationship to the humans we are teaching. Thoughout the pandemic, the elements of student has changed. We are now teaching to a screen, managing in-person and online classes simultaneously and sometimes, all through a mask. As the methods in which we teach are constantly changing, causing separation and less connection, we are watching, and participating, in seeing our social structures reflect the same. We are constantly challenged to be for or against - events, people, organizations and practices. We are in the throws of self and collective sabotage, and it is time to emerge.
This four day immersion will focus on three core elements of wellbeing as a yogi - physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Let's re-discover openness, optimism, vitality and a renewed passion practicing and sharing for yoga as vehicle for holistic wellbeing.
Each Day we will meditate & practice for 2-3 hours in the morning and have optional workshops in the afternoons. There will be plenty of time to gather, play, eat, rest and enjoy Woodstock.
