Seeking a proper golf experience set within dramatic scenic beauty, then look no further than to the Highlands of Scotland. Within a relatively short journey north of Glasgow, Edinburgh Airports, or now with direct flights from London and Amsterdam, you could find yourself teeing off by early afternoon of your day of arrival on some of Scotland’s finest links golf courses.
Combine it with some charming places to stay, throw in a visit (or two) to some of the Speyside or Highland malt distilleries, and play a mix of known gems like Royal Dornoch or an off-the-beaten-path track like Brora Golf Club then you are onto something very special.
One of the not-so-well-known facts about this region that the locals boast about is their “micro-climate” allowing for more favorable weather conditions. Of course, this is only speaking in relative terms because it is still in Great Britain. It certainly doesn’t mean that you leave your rain gear back in the States but you might not pull it out as often as you would in other parts of Scotland.
