An incredible personalized cycling experience! Mattia is an awesome road companion/guide/chronicler. The hotels are top notch, the food is cucina tipica wherever you ride and delicious. Davide, his sidekick, is a great addition to the team. I’ve done four trips with Vago and can’t wait for my next adventure with them.

Certainly an Epic trip!!! Mattia and his crew could not have done a better job of making sure everyone in our group was taken care of in a most professional way. Our support van carried everything we could possibly need and having 2 riders accompanying us made sure everyone stayed safe and had a great time.

Epic Climbs of The Dolomites (June 2025)

I received remarkable personal attention, much more than required, for what was an extremely memorable and fun excursion through the Prosecco and Grappa regions. The accomodations were first class as was the food, the bike performed perfectly and both Mattia and Davide were great companions and offered up superb conversation over dinners. The climbs were certainly challenging, including the 25 km straight up Monte Grappa, but I was able to ride at my own pace, whether 'full gas' or 'pianissimo'.

Unforgettable trip! Private group of 6 mountain bikers. Mattia chose amazing hotels and delicious, authentic restaurants - we are a pretty particular group and didn’t have one complaint. Our trails were absolutely incredible! The rides were tailored to our group and very different every day. I’m a big planner, but there is no way I could have planned this trip myself. Mattia went above and beyond both with planning and follow through. We cannot wait to start planning next year’s trip with Vago! Big thank you to Mattia and Samuelo! 

E-Bike The Alps - Allison Private trip

What a great tour adventure that happened to include a bike. Mattia, Davide, and Michele were awesome guides, hosts, and quickly became part of our group’s “teammates” and friends. They did a great job of showcasing the beauty of their homeland. And no better way to experience this than on the bike climbing to the many incredible views they incorporated into our rides. I was very impressed with how they built flexibility into the schedule to accommodate the changing weather conditions that should be expected in the Alps. We had it all and they made it work. Truly a memorable experience, bravo!

WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!.  Mattia and his group are to be commended for operating such an amazing and accommodating program. From the friendly staff at the bike shop, helping in all areas, great bikes in good condition, coffees in the morning, beers on our return and alway a smile on their faces.

The riding was challenging, the views beyond measure. Mattia modified our trip daily, based on our skill level, fitness level, however still pushed us to get the most out of each day. He welcomed us all like friends and family members, and throughout the week, it never felt like a tour, it felt like riding, eating and laughing a lot as great friends. The accommodation was great, the tour challenging and beyond rewarding, a wonderful trip. I don't think this experience will be surpassed any time soon. What a fantastic trip. Mattia and team at Vago cycling ran an outstanding cycling trip. I can't believe there could be a better outfitter to lead you on these challenging and spectacular rides. The trip was well organized. The Trek road bikes were up to the task. The hotels catered to the needs of cycling groups. But most of all, Mattia, Davide and Michele were able to handle the logistics and needs for every member of our group, accommodating cyclists of different speeds and a few e-bikes. The van coverage was incredible as we required many wardrobe changes over the long climbs and were able to sit some of the climbs and descents out. The team was professional, enthusiastic, and fun! If you are going to cycle in the Alps and Dolomites, you must use Vago cycling!!

We had a great time.  The guides were fun and flexible. Bikes were wonderful.  Hotel was excellent.  Bormio has a lot of beauty to offer.

Had a great trip.  Mattia and his crew knew the people in the hotels and bike shops in Bormio, and did an excellent job of adjusting our schedule due to weather challenges.  We highly recommend Vago Cycling for any trip near the Alps or Dolomites!

This Italy bicycle tour was beyond anything that I could have expected when I signed up.  Mattia (the tour leader) was able to navigate all of the inherent challenges that come with bicycle tours.  Some of our challenges were an unexpected road closure, rain on a few days, at the end of the tour the train from Como was on strike.  Mattia and his staff provided excellent workarounds for every obstacle.  This allowed the riders to just focus on enjoying the challenge of climbing the mountains.  All of the logistics and gear was just taken care of.  The communication of the details of the route and GPS navigation was also outstanding.  The provided bicycle fit and was very enjoyable to ride.  The di2 shifting and the disk brakes were perfect for this ride.  Beyond all of this, the food and restaurants that were provided on the tour was some of the best food I have ever had.  I look forward to doing another tour in the future with Vago cycling.  I would recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to meet the challenge of doing these epic climbs in Italy.  It was an amazing experience and very much worth the cost.

A cycling trip for climbing enthusiasts! You will be challenged with long, steep climbs (and descents!), and rewarded with stunning views of the Italian Alps and Swiss Alpine valleys. The hosts attend to all of your needs and wishes in a casual, laid-back manner - both while on the bike and afterwards during the memorable activities and meals. Highly recommended!

What else could you ask for?  Great, challenging rides through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.  Mattia was a knowledgeable local guide and a strong rider, able to navigate different rider strengths in our group.  Well worth the effort!

The planning and communication leading up to the trip was always clear and straightforward. It didn’t however prepare me for such an incredible holiday, far surpassing my expectations. Accommodation - better than expected with incredible meals and facilities in locations that couldn’t have been better suited. The guys were easy going yet incredibly organised and efficient. We were never rushed yet I did more in a week with the crew (cycling/eating/ travelling/ relaxing) than I normally do in a year!  Can’t wait to do it again!

The week of the June 2024 Abruzzo Grand Tour with Vago Cycling was, without exaggeration, one of the best vacation weeks of my life (and, at 60+, I’ve had many weeks to consider for this honour!). Mattia put together a tour that offered us some of the best cycling in the region, with appropriately challenging routes that afforded us not only the reward of meeting our cycling goals, but also the opportunity to take in the magnificent vistas of the Abruzzo countryside. The van support, spearheaded by Michele and Tony, was incredible: there was plentiful food and drink to fuel our efforts, including a mid-ride lunch prepared by Michele and served in an idyllic spot along the route; it was always comforting to see the van either come up behind us, with Michele and Tony cheering us on as they passed, or parked strategically at an upcoming fork in the road to keep us on track, or, as happened to me the day of our most challenging ride, seeing the van appear almost out of nowhere a few kilometers from the top of the toughest climb, and where, seeing me flagging, Michele provided the impromptu remedy of an ice water dousing, just what I needed to carry me to the summit! Mattia, Michele, Tony—you are three of the most decent people I have ever met, and make no mistake that your hard work, humility, attentiveness, and good humour played an especially important part in the pleasure and sense of belonging I experienced on this trip. I had the good fortune, too, of being paired with a terrific group of riding mates, whose camaraderie provided emotional fuel for the rides and with whom I could share a sense of accomplishment. Among my riding mates there was of course Mattia himself, an expert ride leader who routinely circled back (on climbs!) to check on and encourage us, as circumstances demanded, or, on other occasions, cycled ahead of us, only to perch himself on a rock or find a spot in the shrubs by the road where, as we passed, he would take pictures of us riding against the awesome backdrop of the Appenine Mountains—Mattia, your pictures were great and I will cherish them always, but I have to say Tony’s experimental drone footage of our rides was simply out of this world!  

But the tour was not just about cycling: through Mattia’s carefully curated selection of accommodations and eating spots across the region, we also had the opportunity to experience the local culture—its food, history, geography—in a unique, immediate, and especially memorable way. I will never forget the breathtaking views from our first B&B, nor the post-ride cooking class, nor the amazing winery tour, nor our stay in a beautiful, authentically restored medieval village, to name just a few of the many highlights of the week. And, needless to say, I will miss the arrosticini, the culinary specialty of the region that, for the foodies among us, is reason enough for a return trip. In sum, I am indebted to Mattia, Michele, Tony, and my cycling mates for a simply unforgettable, immensely gratifying experience. If there is a downside to the tour, it is only that I could not spend more time with you all. Then again, there is always a next time—the Italian alps, perhaps? Stelvioooooo!


We had a fantastic trip thanks to Mattia and his staff.  We were treated to fantastic routes with excellent support throughout the trip.  From home cooked meals, to great restaurants everything was beyond our expectations.  The personalized service was superb. Their knowledge of the countryside and the routes were excellent; who needed the routes on our computers, when we received turn by turn instructions throughout the tour.  Oh, the wine, pasta and gelato wasn't too bad either!!!
