Our adventure begins in the morning, departing Quito at 5:00 a.m. and traveling in our private transport to Riobamba. We will continue our journey to the Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve, where we will complete the entrance registration. Once we arrive at the refuge at an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level, we will enjoy lunch and prepare for our acclimatization activities, as well as for the ascent the following day. Afterward, we will have dinner and rest at the Mechahuasca Refuge.
MEAL: B/L/D
We'll wake up at midnight for breakfast before embarking on our approximately 4.5-hour hike to the summit, located at an altitude of 5,018 meters above sea level. During the ascent, we'll have the opportunity to marvel at breathtaking landscapes and contemplate majestic volcanoes such as Chimborazo and Tungurahua. After enjoying this natural spectacle, we'll descend for about 3 to 4 hours to the refuge, where we'll collect all our equipment before returning to our vehicle and finally heading back to the hotel to rest.

In our private 4x4 vehicle, we'll head towards the Chimborazo volcano to begin our ascent. We'll then hike to the first refuge at 4800 meters above sea level, followed by a 200-meter walk to the second refuge at 5000 meters above sea level. Afterwards, we'll enjoy a delicious boxed lunch. Dinner will be at 6:00 pm, after which we'll rest until midnight for the climb.

We'll wake up at midnight and have breakfast, then hike up to Whymper Peak, which stands at 6,310 meters above sea level. It will take us approximately 7 to 8 hours to reach the summit, but the effort will be well worth it, offering a unique view of the entire Andes. The return trip to the refuge, where we'll collect our gear, return to our car, and drive back to Quito, will take us around 3 to 4 hours.
