About this trip

WORKSHOP 1: MOBILITY & BIOMECHANICS WORKSHOP
JUNE 25 - 26, 2020

This 2-day immersion is appropriate for yoga teachers and students alike who are curious about the science behind mobility and positive tissue change. The way we teach modern movement, whether it be yoga, Pilates, Barre, or any other modality, is rapidly evolving based on new research. This workshop is designed to keep you current and informed by current biomechanics research and sports science.

I believe this course is valuable for all yoga teachers, serious students, movement practitioners and body workers.

Through my conversations with teachers and students, I have learned that there is a general misunderstanding of what "Biomechanics" actually is, and how to apply it to the practice of yoga. Biomechanics is not about alignment or functional movement. It is actually the study of how human tissue responds to force, and how to use force to affect positive change in movement and mobility.

Topics will include:

  • Differentiating between Anatomy and Biomechanical principles
  • Tissue adaptation
  • Resistance stretching and Isometrics
  • Movement and Mobility
  • Skillful deviation of traditional yoga alignment
  • Improving control and range of motion
  • Tendonopathy and tissue strain

WORKSHOP 2: ADJUSTMENTS WORKSHOP
JUNE 27 - 28, 2020

This 2-day training is appropriate for you if you are a yoga teacher, fitness trainer, or body worker who is looking to improve your skills at manual adjustments and hands on assists. Through repetition and fundamental concepts, you will learn to assist your students with a more confident hand. You will learn to communicate your teachings through physical and energetic adjustments. This series will teach you how to give solid, supportive adjustments that make your students feel safe and empowered to explore their practice further. We will explore and practice adjustments for:

  • Sun Salutations
  • Standing and Balancing Poses
  • Twisting Poses
  • Seated and Forward Folding Poses
  • Side Bends and Backbends
  • Inversions
  • Savasana

My belief is that what we do ON the mat is simply practice for what we do OFF the mat. How you talk to yourself, how you approach a challenging situation, how you receive, and how you do you anything in your mat practice is usually a direct reflection of what's happening in your everyday practice of life (the real yoga). I also believe that what you put is what you get out. Put positive thoughts into your mind, and it will respond to see the positive in other people and situations. Put good food into your body, and it will respond to fuel you how you want; after all, the gut is second brain, right? So, here I am sharing what I've learned along this journey called life. In class, you can expect a physical challenge. Sometimes we'll work through that challenge with a playful attitude. Sometimes we'll step into a more introspective and meditative space of observation. As a teacher, I encourage and focus on making mindful choices based on what you need that day. See you on the mat!

Teacher Tune-up with Kilty and Susannah was fantastic! I learned so much in just four days to build on my 200-hour teacher training. The combination of Kilty's in-depth anatomy knowledge and Susannah's deep understanding of yoga philosophy made for a well-rounded training. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to dig deeper into the foundations of yoga.
Just the perfect weekend away with delicious food, beautiful women, incredible views, reflection, meditation and yoga. Such an amazing way to kick start the year. Much Mahalo Kilty! You have a gorgeous heart!
Kilty has a true gift. She is lead by authenticity and they ability to be lead by the universe to let the experience unfold. I would go 100 times over and will probably book again for next year now. It was a true gift to be involved in this retreat. Mahalo Kilty. XO Tara Forrest
Kilty is amazing! This was a fabulous, world-class event and was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me. I am so grateful I was able to seize this opportunity and join the wonderful women at Kilty's retreat on North Shore of Oahu.
Breathtaking location. Beautifully crafted meals. Elevating mantra workshop. Inspiring yoga. Kind, caring, reflective company. Togetherness with intention.
